I have a quick question. I had an old PC, and all my sinfiles worked fine. Now, with a new PC, that has a processor more than 5x faster, my sims are all horribly mis-timed. Is there a way in CVS to adjust it so as to have ALL of my gaps adjusted at once? Even the Konami originals are off by 1+ seconds.

Where in relation to the grey arrows are they all hitting? CVS doesn't have a global gap like DWI does, so the only way to really fix the files is to change the gaps to make everything timed right again.

That's not true. There is a global gap in Stepmania, but I forget how to do it. You have to edit a text file that SM reads on loading. I read it in a topic somewhere... if I find that topic I'll return.

And no, it's not possible that the computer's too fast. That's just silly talk.

Ok, after a little searching, here's what I found:

Yes, it's GlobalOffsetSeconds in the Stepmania.INI file. Should already be there with a value of 0.000000, but if not, create a line in the [Options] section that looks like this:

GlobalOffsetSeconds=0.000000

I found that the EMS USB adapter made my steps register late, so I changed the value to -0.05000, and if cleared the problem right up. You'll probably need to tinker with that value for your setup.

Good luck!

Found it in this thread. Hope it helps!

My old computer I used to SM on was 266 Mhz....in English, SLOW and SLOW...

Now I have a AlienWare Area 51 BABY! Dual 2.8 Ghz Pentium 4 Processors with 1 GB RAM...and ya....SM works JUST the same, only a buttery smooth 70 Fps E7.gif E7.gif E7.gif

But try the GlobalOffsetSeconds thing, that might do the trick.

Good luck. thumb.gif
