We should make pattern names (like the U, R, D, L sequence is a Butterfly Spin). It would make things easier with describing step-patterns (so we don't have to think about what the person's talking about). We should have them for all kinds of patterns, like R, D, U, L, D, U, R, D, U, L, etc. could be a _____ step.

Contibrute your thoughts...

left.gif, up.gif, right.gif, up.gif, left.gif, up.gif, right.gif, up.gif repeat That's a crossover pattern, or any formation like it.

up.gifright.gifdown.gifleft.gif or vice-versa is a butterfly spin

Any pattern that has a beat of 1/4, 1/16, 1/4, 1/16 etc. is a gallop.

left.gifright.gif, up.gifdown.gif, left.gifup.gif, up.gifright.gif, left.gifdown.gif, down.gifright.gif, Those are doubles

I call left.gifdown.gifup.gifright.gif, vice-versa that, up.gifright.gifleft.gifdown.gif, vice-versa that, up.gifleft.gifright.gifdown.gif, vice-versa that, or anything else similar to that diagonals, cause you go diagonal from one arrow to the next.

I call it a Continuous Pattern when it's the same step or step combination over and over in 1/4, 1/8, or 1/16 beat.

I think i covered it pretty well. Correct me if i'm wrong, and if you feel like saying that you can start a butterfly spin on any other arrow and go in circles, don't. I didn't feel like putting all that.

I edited this a total of 5 times in the past 7 minutes to make it really good.

left.gif up.gif right.gif left.gif down.gif right.gif = Afronova Turn

I'd show you the "Priest's-Kill-All-Of-You" pattern, but it would take too many arrows to pull off, and you all would die before you even tried it... laugh.gif

It actually showed up in SP-Trip Machine first (well at least that's where it was most easily recognizable). To be PERFECTLY honest, they first showed up in Paranoia Dirty Mix. But since I like SP-Trip machine better, I call those SPTs.

I call LDUR and RUDL staircases.

Of course, LDUDRDUDLDRDRD or whatever I call a pivot (when every other arrow is in the same direction).

For sake of convenience, I call steps that force you to face away from the screen Furuhatas, since they're VERY common in Furuhata's theme. URDLU or DLURD (turned completely) are good examples.

20, November (DDR Ver) has all the walk patterns in it.

left.gif down.gif up.gif right.gif = Right Walk (Moving Right, Facing Right)
left.gif up.gif down.gif right.gif = Reverse Right Walk (Moving Right, Facing Left)
right.gif down.gif up.gif left.gif = Left Walk (Moving Left, Facing Left)
right.gif up.gif down.gif left.gif = Reverse Left Walk (Moving Left, Facing Right)

Based off the walk patterns...

left.gif down.gif up.gif right.gif down.gif up.gif left.gif down.gif up.gif right.gif etc... = Can-Style Run (From Kick the Can)

Oh, and my favorite.
left.gif up.gif left.gif down.gif up.gif right.gif down.gif right.gif
~OR~
right.gif up.gif right.gif down.gif up.gif left.gif down.gif left.gif

= Long Walks.
