Here is a list of DDR metal pads with my reviews....

Red Ocgtane: This pad is a very sturdy pad will last for about 8 months

Pros: Very Responsive-feels like arcade-arrows do not brake.
Cons: VERY loud i suggest playing with socks..but thats not fun so its loud or socks.

Neo pad: I own one of there and they are very good

Pros: VERY RESPONSIVE even more than the Red Ocgtane (ive played with use this that pad before not as responsive

Cons: Foil contacts..very bad but you can mod it with sheet metal. bends if you use it on carpet.

XgamerGear: Same as Neo but sold by a different person SAME exact pad

Cobalt Flux: The all time king of pads

Pros: EVERYTHING is perfect about this pad

Cons: It will set you back 500-600 dollars for doubles.

Ebay pads (others) OK neo and xgamergear and even some homemade pads come on ebay

Pros: Very inexpensive and work great

Cons: you have to watch out for who your buying from.

Homemade pads Well......depends on how much work you put into it and how devoted you are to the project

Pros: Depends

Cons: Depends

I Will have more reviews later

PS is that how you spell red ocgtane?? or red ocgnate? i forgot

RedOctane's Metal Pad won't last 8 months. Cons: "Thin Metal" contacts. Not as good as sheet metal. The contacts for their new pad are very questionable.

Purely Speculative:

Unfortunately, your post creates more questions then it answers. The best thing you can do, is FULLY REVIEW whatever pad you may own, and let others decide, with the other reviews that people actually took time to make. One to two sentences is not even close to what a "review" should be.

I am about to be a proud owner of a Cobalt Flux, but saying "EVERYTHING is perfect about this pad" is not true. What about the fact that it does not feel like an arcade platform...?

If you wanted to make a one stop shop for reviews, your best bet would be to make a topic, that links all the reviews by people that actually own the platforms.

lol, the only thing that will truly feel like an arcade platform, is the arcade platform.

Without being too harsh... well screw it.

Being harsh- These "reviews" of yours suck. They're utterly useless. This thread is quickly going to turn into uselessness also.

You didn't need to do that. The mods read every topic, and saying that won't make anyone happier, just more angry.

All in all, some of those posts were inappropriate, but in all seriousness your reviews are too lacking of information to be helpful. Add more about each pad ... you only said one each of the many pro and cons each pad has. And if you're even going to mention making your own pad, don't just say 'depends.' I really want some info about the different designs and the general sucess of people. Personally, too, because I'm looking into changing up my ailing DDRHomepad-design pad.

Cleaning up the spelling and grammar would help people stop insulting you. Add MORE info - there're lots of people who could use a good, informative cross-review of all the pads.

Jeez, don't whine so much.

hooded_paladin is right. You really need to expand those "reviews".
To break them apart-
How did you come to know that the RO will last about 8 monhts? They haven't even been out for eight months. Does it just suddenly irrepairably stop working after eight months? I wouldn't quite call the arrows arcade-like as they bend (to touch the foil) unlike the arcade's stiff pads. They also aren't very loud at all (unless you're a stomper). Also, have you even played on it in socks? Good luck trying. You'll slip all over the place and hurt your feet too.

You say the Neo pad is VERY RESPONSIVE while the RO is Very Responsive. Oh, that's a big difference.

Everything is NOT perfect with the CF. The only things going for it are durability and responsiveness.

etc.

True to what Mikeweiser said that you can only fully review the pad you own, so i will give a review of my Cobalt Flux.

* i wont give it points/points either i just dont like doing that.

First off the pad looks AWESOME very shiny and sleek (you can see your self in it E4.gif.

The pad plays WONDERFULLY it is VERY responsive. I am a standard/9-foot heavy player and i have never seen so many perfects other than with my CF(i had a cheap $15 2DR(i think thats what they are called, i got it at software etc, and i use the arcade pads). But yes the pad IS perfect for PA'ing (as long as you dont over step on the corner with bare feet; which is why i play in shoes now!)

The feel of it is so-so, i prefer the feel of the arcade pad with the heightened center panel, but on the plus side of it being one flat surface i can slide even in my shoes which is good. Also this is probably sum wierd thing with my but i pretty much always have this feeling that i am going to fall of of the pad when i play. I think cuz its so low to the ground and that i have a small room so it is RIGHT between my bed and wall.

But yes my friends overall the cobalt flux is GREAT i love it and couldnt be more happier(only if it had a raised center panel). Oh and one last thing that i forgot to list, for me at least it took a while to get used to playing on it for the fact that it feels quite different than the arcade pad as i had previously mentioned.

Well if you want a GREAT pad and have the money then yup go with the cobalt.

I prefer the arcade as well, but the CF is the best damn pad to have at home. It does take some getting used to, since I can tell 'where I am' a lot better at the arcade due to the sunken arrows, but I'm fine now.

Well, if you would kindly look to the stickied Metal Pad thread, the first page, while old, still holds true E1.gif
