Anyone play this? Is it lame? I'm likely going to go out in a few hours and blow some money on it.

Heheh...It has Let's Groove.

The original version, though.

Not too promising of a song-list for me, but I might get it anyway, because I really like Parapara. happy.gif

Okay, I just got this at Meijer. There is only one way to describe this game: fucking rad. Seriously, this could easily unseat DDR and Karaoke Revolution to become the new Ultimate Dorm Game.

Think Para Para + Samba De Amigo + bizzarro photos and videos of yourselves playing after you've finished.

Being the Ultimate Dorm Game does not depend solely on gameplay. It depends on how quickly the game can be learned, and how entertaining it is when played with a fair sized group of friends. DDR is tons of fun, but let's face it, it's a little boring for the spectators.

Me and my friends always enjoy a good DDR performance....especially a good freestyle routine
But you do have a point on how quickly it can be learned. It's to bad not everyone is a ddrfreak

That depends. Watching some friends stomp a trash bag in your living room gets boring, especially since you know exactly what songs they're gonna pick, and how good they are. At the arcade, it's allways a surprise to see some n00b or out-of-towner step up to the platform. It's great seeing new styles and techniques.

True. But we're talking dorm/home versions here. Obviously, DDR stomped PPP into the ground in the arcades. Heh.

I picked it up today [I owned an eyetoy that I got for $20 NIB but never bothered to open] and Groove is SO MUCH FUN.

It closely resembles Samba De Amigo but instead of maracas, you use your hands. It has freeze poses which you get to see as photos after you finish your song, it takes a video sequence during the song's 'freestyle' portion, and has a decent selection of songs [though a lot of europop hits that most americans won't be familiar with]. You can listen to the full length songs in a random shuffle [similar to amplitude's jukebox thing] or watch a selection of music videos that they provided.

It is VERY fun...if you already own an eyetoy [groove by itself is $30, but you can buy groove with the camera for $50, but you won't be able to get 'Play'...the first eyetoy game]. I recommend it as a party game for when you can't play DDR [such as a dorm room or 2nd / 3rd floor apartment]. Its a mix of dance freaks, samba, and para para.

Does it ever get really hard? Can you "AAA" really hard songs if you get good enough? Is it accurate?

The timing is actually really tricky. I haven't been able to come anywhere near a perfect score. I don't think you're intended to, though, because I've still been able to get an A on some songs, and that's the highest grade as far as I know.

Song sync seems pretty accurate, and as long as you have good lighting, the control accuracy is decent as well.

Sounds a bit too wishy-washy for my tastes. Even though I'm not what you might call an A-Stepper or whatever when it comes to DDR and music games I still can't stand it when a music game tells me I goofed up when I didn't. Makes me go frust.gif

Here is a link for the Eye Toy Groove (US) song list .

http://ps2.ign.com/articles/507/507854p2.html

I think I'm gonna wait for a new Japanese "mix" that comes next month, that features J-pop and anime songs. I have yet to see a song list. Here is a link for a look at that one.
