My RO metal pad frankenstein.......thing idea : )

I have been reading up on perfecting my home setup. Basically im attempting suicide everytime I play doubles with the soft pads and I want metal pads. I do not have the time to build a set of doubles pads. HOWEVER, I do have time to tinker.

1) If I was to order a set of RO metal pads, could I replace the diagonal arrows with sheet metal? If I did, would it still be functional?? Im thinking I could use the wires and makeshift a arcade style control box.

2) I have been hearing controversy about the reliability of the foil contacts. Could I replace them with sheetmetal contacts, or would that be too much of a mess??

3) I have read that the arrows start to tuck after a while. Could I replace the clear part with stronger plexiglass or something else???

Give me some ideas (or if you think im just nucking futs) here.

1) Why? There is no need to remove diagonal buttons. Diagonal buttons are your friend... If you really want you could get rid of them, but they don't HURT you, do they?

2) You COULD replace them. I think that'd void your warranty... But...

3) you might as well just build your own, it's not really any more... and then you can make it more authetic feeling.
