How to get stepmania on your television?

Can someone explain to me the process of putting stepmania on your television screen while it's on the computer so I can use my PC adapter? I'm sure this will be very confusing and difficult to explain, but please try

ok here goes. You need a video card that supports tv-out. it should be a round port on your video card. you might have to use something like this to make the wire go to the tv.

if you have a playstation or something you recognize the yellow red and white ports. the wire has to go to the yellow port. you also have to configure your monitor so it treats your tv like an extra monitor, and your pc like it is a playstation. hope that helps in any way.

Look on the back of your computer to see if you have a TV-out. Idealy it should be an S-Video jack, but a yellow composite jack will also do. Get an S-Video/yellow RCA cord and plug it in to your TV-out jack. Plug the other end into your TV.

This next part is assuming you have a sound card with a regular 1/8" out-
For the audio you need a get an 1/8" to RCA adapter (available from radio shack for about $8. Plug the 1/8" jack into your sound card, then plug the RCA cables into your TV.

Activate your TV out. This part varies based upon the video card and drivers you have. For my ATI Radeon you right click on the desktop -> properties -> settings -> advanced -> displays -> click on the red button above the picture of a TV.

You also shouldn't run at a res greater than 800x600 or the entire screen probably won't show up on the TV resulting in scrolling of the picture.

Or if you don't have a video card with TV-out, you can use something like an ETV (http://www.redoctane.com/etv.html) that hooks up through your monitor port (and USB for power).

need a video card that supports S-video out.

Buy the following items:

RF modulator that supports S-video (they have em at radio shack for 30 bucks)
S-video cable (14 dollars)
Coaxial cable (i dunno, it depends)

...connect s-video cable from the s-video out to the s-video intput in the modulator...then connect the coaxial cable from the modulator to the tv...go to your properties (with nvidia geforce, go to nview and change to TV)...and that's it...and it's guaranteed to work on any tv cause all tv's got coaxial input...but not all have s-video input

Ugh. RF looks like mounds of poop. He should just figure out his highest connection and then go to that one instead of automatically running all the way down to the bottom of the heap.

I don't play PS2. ANYTHING hooked up with RF looks like crap. I can't even stand to play SNES without an S-video hookup.

get a good high end vid card (i use raid 9700) It has svid out and htdv out, so you can get the greatest picture.

dont forget about using good cables (use monster cables)

If your TV only has composite (the yellow one) and your computer has both the yellow one and an S-Video, you should just buy the yellow RCA cable and skip S-Video altogether. You still will need an 1/8" to RCA cable if you want sound to come out of your TV's speakers.

The ETV adapter that jtrobot linked to is what you'll need for the comp that doesn't have a TV-out.

well if you set in your properties of windows, there should be an option to set where your signal is going out, therefore you can hook your tv up

i have my pc hooked to the tv, but sm and other direct x applications display in black on it... how do i fix this? running win 2000 radeon 9000

ok, i didn't know cvs used open gl - in any case, neither direct x or open gl work on my tv, they are just black... other applicactions do tho, like aim, and real one movie player works too... there must b a configuration in direct x or open gl to fix this, or maybe it's cause i have a shared desktop =\
edit: I'm running cvs.... maybe the final version will work better? *checks*

I usually run it at 600x800 with my tv at the same res, in window mode, i tryed lower resolutions... and full mode...i think it's cause my desktop is streached across the 2 monitors *imagine being able to drag windows to a desktop on your tv*
