This is what Max. (Period) asks. So, what is your answer?

If we didn't have them, I imagine we'd get overrun with N*SYNC and Britney Spears songs, and NOBODY wants that!

I don't think anyone can dispute that it is the KO's - Konami Originals, not knock-offs - that define the series; more songs by Naoki, 2MB, RevenG, dj TAKA, dj naguero, N.M.R, etc. will probably be remembered years from now than the licenses along for the ride. PLUS! As Konamix showed us, using their own original songs is a safe, inexpensive route. While a lot of it does have a mainstream sound to it, actually going along with mainstream Top 40 / dance simply wouldn't make the series feel like the DDR we know and love. Other than all that, it's hard to explain... Yes, there's some KO's I can live without, but probably more licenses. (Show of hands: Let Them Move or Oops! I Did It Again? Thought so.)

(Question: Can you store four songs by 2MB on an 8MB PS2 memory card?)

Agreed. I was never really a fan of many licenses. A few stick out, but as I've said roughly 10 billion times already, AM-3P all the way.

Yeah, I agree completely. I love alot of the KO's and love listening to them. Mainstream songs are okay, but it really wouldn't be DDR if most of them made up DDR.

Just so we're clear, you do know that Naoki, 2MB, RevenG, and N.M.R. are the same person, right?

I think the Konami originals add a nice touch to the game. I like most of them, and they allow a lot of variety to the type of music that appears in the game.

2MB is U1 Asami, not Naoki.

And KOs rock completely. Konami could scrap every licensed song in the game and I'd really only miss maybe ten. Tops.

Yes, overall Konami's songs define the game; it wouldn't be the same without them. While I don't disdain a majority of the liscenses like some of you seem to(come on, you know you like your So Deep, R&P and Captain Jack and so on), I feel the game wouldn't be nearly as well rounded without them present also. They are both needed to create a good game.

Besides, I doubt that we'd have ten foot licenesed songs anyway...

I actually used to think that 2MB was Naoki, until I finally saw a picture of U1 Asami in a Pop'n Live concert, or whatever that was.

I like the KOs along with anything from TaQ and K.O.G G3 remixes. Although there are a few KOs which completely suck balls. disgust.gif

I will concede, however, that the two songs that most people think of with DDR are licensed from SMILE.dk and Joga... Do I even need to mention these songs?

Heh, old school songs never die!

While "those" songs may have defined the series in the old days and now with newbs, I feel that Konami's songs are the difining ones anymore (i.e. Max 300, PSMO).
