There is a thread for homebuilt metal DDR pads. Why don't you visit it?

Well, I'll give a preview of my next pad project, as I'm looking for something closer to the arcade than the homemade pads I've got now, that's easy to maintain (my home pads right now require regular maintenance every couple months). The basic idea for the buttons is at this site:

http://royconejo.host.sk/

I figure I can put two pads on a sheet of plywood about 6'x3 1/2', and hook them up to gamepads I've already wired. I figure that problems will be easier to diagnose and fix if they're already out in the open, and that I'll be able to fairly easily simulate the arcade feel of seated buttons and brackets with creative floor tile application after I get it all wired up. The buttons themselves will be sheet metal with a pattern cut out of it (making two almost-interlocking pieces) with a Radio Shack nibbler.

I'm thinking it'll be a pretty sweet doubles setup, and although Aluminum tape might be good for guests (don't know what that leaves on the shoes after the gaming session is over, though), I'm thinking the biggest problem might be making fairly permanent metal DDR shoes, or overshoes, that doesn't feel different from regular shoes. Any ideas would be welcome here E1.gif Although the end product may not look as finished or polished as many of the sweet pads in the homemade metal pad thread above, it'll get you some serious geek cred in the right crowd.
