And state your reason why
1. A player with endless stamina and who can easily pass ANY 10 foot song on singles and doubles without even thinking about it but who can't PA at all.
2. A player who tires from some 9's but has a excellent PA. Can SDG all songs below 9 feet and can SDG a few 9's but can't touch 10 footers at all....least entertaining to watch
3. A player who can't do either of the above but has freestyle moves which no one has EVER seen. Also very good at breaking
So which would you choose? _________________

Well, of those, I am closest to number 2 in actuality, and I am happy with what I can do.
However, being a mad freestyler would be cool. I say this because I feel that freestyling requires some inate talent, of which I have none. _________________

Well that's just not fair...I want it all .
Honestly I'd go with 3. I've enjoyed dancing since LONG before I discovered DDR, so yeah, it just makes more sense for me. I mean, I can sort of freestyle, but if I had the skill to come up with a really nice routine and pull of some more advanced breaking moves than I can, that would just be awesome (not to mention it would be much more impressive to the ladies than being a "Stomping Master" ). _________________

When I first started my goal was to be number 3. I thought it looked alot more impressive then someone doing 'heavy' imo. Everyone i've seen in the arcades now a days seem to always push for straight 'heavy' (which isn't a bad thing either). However, it takes mad guts and as you mentioned earlier 'talent' to try and freestyle... |

Number 2, because it's what I've been trying to do. I don't like the 10 foot songs that much, but if I got a little bit better I'm sure I could do them. I just want to be comfortable with the easier stuff first, so I don't look terrible when I go to try to do the 10s. _________________

Since I'm not interested in myself freestyling I'll eliminate option three.
This is tough, option one is great to impress people with but option two will give you the best chance to win tournaments. I'd want to be at least a little entertaining to watch (one) but at the same time I don't want to be the kind of person that only plays 10 foot songs to impress others (two).
I'm going to pick option one because I'll assume this is a starting position, which means at a later time I can practice those easier songs. You know, kind of like playing difficulties backwards. I'm thinking some of those 10 footers will teach me patterns for easier songs I have trouble with. Especially since we have the highest and lowest BPM in 10 footers (I think). Also, being a player in option one sounds like the easiest way to improve. So, if people in options one and two practice equally, option one would IMO be the better player after awhile. Stamina, to me, seems hard to gain.

I know I would pick #2. I would win tournaments, then probably get enough money to buy my own machine and get stamina to do 10-footers and freestyle. _________________

I'd say I'm inbetween choices 1 and 2.
I don't have endless stamina, but I can go a long way beating those hard fast songs without getting too tired. I wear lightweight trainers and as long as the pads are sensitive enough, it doesn't really tire me! I'm not a great PA'er on 9-10 footer songs, but easier footers I tend to really try to go for the PA mark. Also I can't beat all 10 footers, LOM is just hard work to keep up with the insane speed of 8ths and jumps!
As for option 3 forget it, I never freestyle unless one day the arcade was completly dead and I decide to act silly without being laughed on by townies! |

I am #2 and #3, I get tired from some 9's but my PA isn't excellent. I can't SDG some 9's and I've done some 10's. And I am entertaining cause I put up a show crowd or no crowd. I also want to try freestyling adding another dimension to my game already with being good at Single and owning on Doubles play. _________________

I'm more like #1 right now :[ I can get at least a B on all singles easy and the only doubles I haven't passed is Legend of Max (finally got daikenkai ), and my PA was truly crap a few months ago (B on era fc ) but I'm getting a lot better. I would actually rather be #2 than #1 though.
...and since when are 10 footers entertaining to watch? I'd much rather watch someone AA Dead End or something like that than get a C on PSM Oni >_> |

#2 is pretty much exactly where I stand it's not even funny.
I will get
9 greats in Insertion,
8 on Tears,
2 or less on basically any 7 footer.
9 on kakumei shuffle flat.
5 Greats on Frozen Ray Shuffle Flat.
but gets good old B's and C's on the 10 footers. I struggle with them for some reason. It's like my mind is frozen when I come across them. Intimidation factor I suppose.
The only A on a 10 footer I've gotten was Sakura of course. Suprisingly 33 greats. Which is good for me Let me tell you I suck so much at 10's its not even funny.
Boy do I suck at 10's but umm I'm honestly not that worried about 10 foot songs
They're just for show off purposes for me at least. Because I suck at them i admit it and I'm proud of it. |

the best type would be a person who can freestyle to 9 footers
(probably wont happen though ) |

I'd pick #2, given that it's what I'm closest to. I can AA a ton of stuff on Heavy, catas included, but my PA drops like a brick thrown out an airplane on ten-footers. _________________

Let me be the second one to say 1!
I gotta admit: Stuff 7 feet and up tires me. My PA isn't great either. I have never got an AA on a heavy song. Out of my standard AA's, none were close to SDG. It's a shortcoming that I will just have to live with.
Even though my PA bites, getting a FC is still very rewarding, especially on heavy songs. Candy heart and Cowgirl are the only two (reliably) FC'able songs I can remember right now. |
