recently, my dad and i got into a debate about DDR. He knows basically nohing about it except frwhen hes seen me play. He said that he bets that 95% of ALL DDR songs are remixes and not original songs. I said thats not true and that there are artists who make music just for DDR. I also showed him that one website extrastage.com where it shows all the remixes from other songs that are in DDR and he still doesnt believe me. If anyone can give me some information on how i can prove my dad wrong i would appreciate it E4.gif

Everything that is on ExtraStage is all the songs that were redone originally for bemani games. Anything not on that page is an original song made by the artist who did it. Whether it be on an album or in a game.

You tell your dad to find the "original" version of Max 300, as well as any other song by Konami. Laugh as he fails to do so. laugh.gif

Mr. limegreenpotatoe's Father,

Your son is correct, most of the music in Dance Dance Revolution was created by the game company's own artists specifically to be used in DDR. Other songs include Konami (the game company) Originals from their other music games that have since then crossed over to DDR.

Also, near 30% of the music has been licensed from artists who have careers outside of DDR. It is true that some of these artists have covered older songs and some have appeared in DDR. Likewise, some of the Konami Originals are technoed-up versions of classical music--for example: Beethoven.

Taking this into account, I would put the number of covers and remakes at less than 10% of DDR's music.

Tell your dad to buy the DDR Max USA, because inside the booklet is a large interview with various artists, especially naoki. If he refuses to buy it then simply tell him to admit he is wrong, but if he refuses to buy it because he's afriad he is wrong, well then.. either way you will win the argument.

"Holiday" is a cover, not a remix....

I say... CHALLENGE HIM!

Challenge him to find the FULL VERSION of the songs online. If you really want to make it harder on him... restrict him to US songs only!

You'll most likely find "Have you Never Been Mellow", "Smoke on the Water" & "My Fire", but only "Have you Never Been Mellow" is an excerpt of the original song my Olivia Newton John... even though she can be classified as an Austrilian Artist...

A lot of the songs in DDR are remixes of old songs though.

Go download the ORIGINAL, Flashdance, Vol. 4 (Popcorn), Captain Jack, In the Navy, Right Now, Tribal Dance, etc.

But those are mostly licenses.

I have been able to find full versions of
Dam Dariram,
One Two (the ORIGINAL, not the crappy new one),
Kind Lady (which is mostly just an instumental song and a little more lyrics than it's DDR counterpart)
Daikenkai (which kicks arse!)
Stomp To My Beat
and 2 others which I have forgotten.

But yes, the US versions are difficult as all hell to find
