Other than Himeya, is there anywhere else to get this? Maybe lower priced? Well not so much lower priced as in stock.......does anyone else have it in stock? _________________

if you lived in japan then it would be cheaper
you should realize those controllers are only offered in japan and konamistyle.com only ships to japan
so they are the only online place that would even attempt to make that happen in the states
alternative: befriend someone in japan and give them the money for controller/shipping |

Or try Rinkya. But I doubt you'll save any money. |

Well like I said, price isn't as much of a problem as finding a place that at least has them in stock. _________________

Hm, damn.....
The only person selling an ASC on Rinkya won't sell internationally >_<
BTW, if I get something from Rinkya, would I be able to use Paypal? Will Paypal convert to Yen? Cause damn they have some NICE prices here. 6 dollars (when converted from yen) is the average ENDING bid for one of the PSX Pop'n games, while on the US ebay it's more like 30 O.O _________________

I believe you pay via credit card.
But rememeber, when you get it from rinka you'll have to play for the shipping (EMS is expensive) plus the import duties.
I think it would be better for you to get it from himeya...but it's up to you... _________________

Well an ASC looks like the price will end at about 200 at Rinkya.
And shipping for something that large should probably be around 50 or 60 at the minimum.
So far still only 260, still much much lower than Himeya's price, and Himeya's price isnt' including shipping. How much can import deductions be? _________________

the value of the unit will be taxed...and example for me would be 15% of whatever the total price of the controller (I live in Canada) so what ever the state tax is is what you'll be paying. _________________

I bought my Pop'n ASC with Rinkya and I'm gonna tell you right now: you are not going to get one cheap. Period.
With that said, let me direct you to this page that explains Rinkya's fees. Using the information about Rinkya's fee's on their website I will write an example of how you wll be charged.
Example: You win an auction at 35,000 yen (to be honest this is most likely what an auction for an ASC will end at, people always bid last minute). According to Rinkya's Fee page you will pay for the following:
About $300 (if the exchange rate is 1$=116 yen).
$15 base commission + 1$ for every 1,000 yen over 10,000 yen
$10 shipping within Japan plus extra if the shipping costs over $10 (and with the size of an ASC it's more)
About $75 for international shipping from Japan to you.
So lets add that up:
$300 Pop'n ASC
$15 commission
$25 commission for every 1,000 yen over 10,000 yen (1$ x 25)
$25 shipping in Japan (this is an estimate, I know it's not $10 within Japan)
$75 shipping from Japan to US (that's about how much I paid if I remember correctly)
So in this example, if the winning bid is around 30,000 yen, then you'll be paying something around $440.
Rinkya can take anywhere from 2 weeks to 1 month to get your stuff (and in my case longer because they shipped my ASC to Colorado and I'm in California).
I hope this doesn't deter you from thinking about getting an ASC because as any ASC owner will tell you there is no other way to play Pop'n Music. I just wanted to let you know that no matter which route you go it's still gonna cost a pretty penny.
Edit: grammar stuff
Edit 2: I suck at the English language. _________________

Oh, and so you know, the shipping is really cheap from Himeya... only $15, I think. From Riynka, it'll be a lot more.
When you add it all up, they are going to be close in price, and at least you'll know that you'll be getting something good, new, guarenteed to win (not auction), and shipped quickly (when they arrive) with Himeya.
DJP from Bemanistyle said he's dealt with Himeya lots of times, and endorses them 100% for all Bemani. I ordered my ASC from them, and I'd bet that that would be your best bet, too. _________________

The low shipping cost from Himeya is far outweighed by the price markup of the actual item. Konamistyle's asking price is 30,000 for one unit - that's only about $250. If you're buying from Himeya, $150 is going towards the shipping of the unit to them, then to the US, and whatever's left into their pockets.
This is why I really dislike import shops that regularly place unjustifiably-high price bloats on product, but I guess they have to make a living somehow... just at the expense of their customers... _________________

StarCreator is absolutely right, Himeya just adds shipping as part of the item (for ALL items, not just ASCs) so shipping always seems cheap. But like djp, I've also dealt with them and I can't recommend someone better for speedy service for items coming directly from Japan. |

It just comes back to the point that no matter what you do, you'll end up having to pay more for this unless you're going to go to Japan yourself to pick it up. They might put the cost in shipping, or mark up or wherever... but it'll be there... _________________

So why exactly doesn't Konamistyle ship outside of Japan? I mean, it's a stupid business move if I've ever heard one. They could double or triple their business if they wanted to..... _________________

Probably because of licenesing issues in Bemani... They don't care if an import store buys them in Japan, ships it over here, and sells it themselves. Konami's only selling in the licensed area (Japan). Their asses are covered, but you can be sure that they don't care (ie, encourage) arcade owners and such to buy their product, and then take it to the states themselves. They just have to cover their own asses by not shipping it here. _________________

Hmm.........this gives me an idea.......
I think once I can save up about $300, I'm gonna come here and ask anyone here from Japan for a favor, which I would pay them for _________________

...And watch them say no, because it costs approximatly $265 from Konamistyle (then probably like $30 shipping from them), $80 to ship to the US and another $50+ for them doing it in the first place. Oh, and there's that whole messy "you can't get them in trouble if they rip you off" thing. So it's exceedingly possible that you'd spend like $420+ and not get anything in return. Face it, no matter what you do, you're going to be paying $400 or so in order to get one, just because they are big and expensive in the first place. If you have a personal friend living in Japan, maybe that would work (I do, I figure that's how I may go about getting mine), but otherwise you're probably best off going through Himeya. |
