I tryed for my first time on Spring Break in Florida 2003. It was on a MAX2 machine, and i played A Minute (Extended Remix) on light with sandles on. Failed, but got a huge inspiration to keep playing and to get better. Now I can pass A Minute on heavy E7.gif (of course, that's not impressive E13.gif )

The first time I played was on a MAX2 machine in november, 2002. I don't remember the song I played but later I got a DDRMAX demo for ps2 and played it with the controller. The first song I played on that was exotic ethnic.
And near christmas we got DDRMAX for PS2 and 2 pads and the first song I played was Matsuri Japan on light, I passed.

Oh my gosh...this is a great thread. I remember YEARS ago when like one of the first DDRs were out in Fresno, CA. I think it was American mix. Anywayz, I thought that the only song on the machine was El Ritmo Tropical on basic, and I looked like a fool. (Keep in mind, I was like 9 years old.) Well that is a great memory! E15.gif

.. do I feel young 'r what. XD

I'm still growing up on this. I started in May on a DDR Max 2, the machine broke because of some idiots in the middle of July, got fixed and upgraded to Extreme. :D Yay! During the time it was down, I went once to Killeen to play their DDR Ex. Interesting experience for many reasons. >>

Before it busted, I was barely a standard player. When we got it back, somehow I'd gotten better. XD Wtf is with that. And now I'm something like half difficult stadard and half easier heavy. o.o

These things just happen apparently. X_o

Oh -- ! :D!! And I met my boyfriend about a week after beginning, too! He's played for almost a year. >> How embarassing.

Me, the horrid Light player. Him, the experienced Heavy player. <<; .... I shall one day conquer him! >O

Probably Jan of this year. My co-worker introduced me to it and I never looked back. I knew of the game months before and have been playing a simulation of it, of course it couldn't compare to the real thing. I don't remember what song I played but I failed miserably. It was 7th mix if i'm not mistaken. Unfortunetly it didn't have the 'Beginner' mode that Extreme does, which probably would've helped...

i think a lot of us thought it was gay at first....

I know I did. Summer 2002 my cousins wanted to show me the game and I really really didn't want to play because of the potential looking-really-stupid factor. But I did... And was able to pass 4 footer songs at the end of two weeks. I got my own home pad on my B-Day that year (November) and I first played DDR at an arcade sometime in January maybe.

My first mix was 3rd asian, and my first song was Upside Down, which I played on a nonstop course. Good times.
Whenever I listen to BMRs 'The 7th Revolution' I get 7th mix flashbacks

No -_-

I remember playing Have You Never Been Mellow, Boom Boom Dollar, and Butterfly on a 1st mix at Funset Boulevard almost 4 years ago, and getting my USA home version June 2000 (I remember playing Boom Boom Dollar in my basement but that's it), but everything about my DDR life is literally a blank, the last thing I remember after that was getting DDRMAX November 2002. It's really awkward when people ask me how long it was before I started playing trick, or maniac, or how long it was before I started crossing over, and so on. I can't answer them u_u

edit - "and getting my USA home version June 2000 " I just looked at my game box and the copyright is 2001.. but I know I got it the summer of 3 years ago, because I couldn't play in 8th grade (I'm 11th now) because I had a sprained ankle. I'm really confused x_x

flash.gif FLASHBACK flash.gif It all started December 2002. I was in the space mountain arcade in Disney's Magic Kingdom and I saw these two people playing it on basic. I wanted to try it but I decided not to. Then we came back another day and I played it. Ever since then I've been hooked on it.
