...at least for a good reason.

To sum it all up, decreased sound quality + decreased video quality + undanceable songs on DDR + too many Japanese songs = pissed off DDR player |

I notice no difference in the sound quality, but who cares about video quality? the videos in all DDR suck to begin with i mean, all repetitive visuals, undanceable songs i agree, look at A,V,Daikenkai, Across the Nightmare, and many others, the songs started to suck ever since MAX came out, w/ a few danceable songs, 4th+ had the most danceable IMO. Too many japanese songs??? ummmm ITS A JAPANESE GAME TO BEGIN WITH U N00B!!! ignorance is a bliss
My opinion why extreme sucks, the IIDX songs were all shortened and killed *cough*colors*cough*l'amour*cough*V*cough*

Quote: | Going back to the CD ROM issue, Konami stuffed 200 plus songs on a single CD ROM. All the songs run at 112kbps which is piss poor sound quality. Konami, please don't do this again. DVD ROM is the best move you can make. |
At least the guy has good reason for thinking the sound qaulity sucks, I can never tell because all the arcades here have other loud machines nearby so you can never hear the music real well. _________________

Extreme pretty much sucks, plain and simple. Without Love Heart Shine, this mix would be utter trash. |

The Extreme mix runs off of System 573 which is based off the Playstation. System 573 is what all of the DDR mixes run off of. All DDR machines (if they have memslots) can only interface with Playstation 1 memcards. I could be wrong, but I think that there is an upgrade for System 573 that can use a DVD drive, but none of the DDR machines currently support it. _________________

How can people say Daikenkai and Sakura aren't "danceable?" Especially Sakura. The rhythm through that song is awesome! |

Oh brother, don't start whining about IIDX songs being shortened.
"Oh Konami? Why do you hate us so? Why couldn't you have put in the 12 minute long version of Colors? WHY!!!!????"
Come on, be realistic, DDR songs are 1:30 average... IIDX they're 2:00. End of discussion. (Directed towards poster earlier in this thread)
"The game runs in a very poor resolution making it more rough to the eyes even more than say 4th Mix."
As far as Comparing 4th+ to Extreme... err right... 4th/4th+ had a horrible engine, and playing on it was almost unbearable, and I'm used to it.
4th+ had 150 songs, nearly all of which were WORN OUT BY THE TIME THEY GOT TO 4TH+. Seriously, I played all of those songs back in the 2nd/3rd mix days save the 4th/4th+ songs (most of which weren't very good anyway).
Extreme all the way. _________________

Extreme doesn't have many "danceable" songs to begin with. By "danceable," I guess I mean songs that are fun to play to. V (oni) and Colors (oni) are fun, I guess, if you like stopping like mad. Cartoon Heroes, Be Lovin', and A are all great if you just love those spastic jump 1/8 note chains. The 10s are all lovely if you enjoy turning in to a pile of disgusting nerd sweat. I just don't find many songs enjoyable to play on Extreme. They're fun, in a way, because they're challenging, but they're nt fun because they have good steps that go to the music. When I play on Extreme, I find myself playing songs like Exotic Ethnic, Synchronized Love, and Telephone Operator just because they're enjoyable to play.
Mah, whatever. I just think Konami made a poor choice with a lot of the songs they brought back from original mixes, and the majority of the newer songs are just sh*tty IIDX songs. |

Why must we fight? Sure it's arguable that Extreme is not as high quality/ fun to play as other mixes, but it's still fun, isn't it? I'd rather play MAX than Konamix, but Konamix is still fun. Just because it's not as high quality as MAX doesn't make it a bad game. Could we stop fighting and start having more worthwile and meaningful discussions? _________________

And besides, the cut versions of IIDX songs weren't really bad. I particularly liked the EXTREME versions of V and Colors. In fact, Colors ~for EXTREME > Colors (radio edit) > Colors (original mix). |

Hmmmmmmmm without Extreme I wouldnt be able to hear and play such great songs as
-L'amour et la liberte (DDR Version)
-Kiss Kiss Kiss
-Heaven Is A 57'
And about L'amour et la liberte....I do believe that I like the DDR version better than the IIDX Version. Honestly I hear a lot of trancey like synths in that song and I love them all very much... (I'm a trance freak.) I also liked the Vocals and how they were redone to fit the ambience of the song very nicely.
Perhaps the only thing I didnt like about the song is the fact that the piano was located at the very end of the song and not in the middle or the beginning of the song....
Other than that I think that it was awesomely done |

Ever since the Max series, DDR had been moving toward the technicality category - songs had been as "undanceable" as ever, mostly because freestyling in general is halfway in the grave and the rest of the fan base craves harder songs with harder steps.
Don't blame Konami for picking the songs that YOU voted for. So what if you don't like half of the song list? Go play the other half and shut up. I'm sick and tired of people who bash on good things just to make themselves look "cool" or "different".
Look, DDR had always been a "your favorite song" game. Everyone's favorites differ from each other, and there had always been arguments about "this song that absolutely sucks" and "that song is overplayed". Sure, with Extreme, you don't get a mix that serves an exclusive fan base (5th Mix *ahem* *ahem* 6th Mix *ahem* *ahem*), but at least nobody will come off not liking any of the songs, and that's the whole point.
I don't see a decrease in quality of sound at all. Vido quality had always been terrible, so it doesn't make you look any cooler by saying that it sucks now.
Those who tries to act old school and blam the new mixes can go back and play Butterfly.
On Extreme. _________________

Umm, up until 4th Mix Plus, DDR didn't have any songs that were even Japanese in origin other than original songs by Naoki and the ocassional song featuring dj TAKA (then known only as TAKA). Then in 4th Mix Plus you had Cat's Eye Ventura Mix (originally a theme song to an anime of the same name) and Lupin the Third '78 (also an anime theme). And those were in English and instrumental, respectively. It wasn't until 5th Mix when Naoki came along with the mostly banal BeForU and 50 million remixes of Dive that DDR got any songs with Japanese lyrics at all. |
