Just like the topic says...I need:
A JPS2
IIDX styles (kind of obvious)
A controller
I can get a JPS2, 6th style, and one controller shipped from japanvideogames.com for just under $500. Any other places to check? _________________

Personally, I'd recommend getting the Swap Magic + fliptop lid kit if you already have a US PS2. You'll save a good $200 that way, which would be better spent on more Bemani games. ;-) And so far, every PS2 Bemani game works fine with Swap Magic.

Just get a god damn no-swap modchip (DMS3 with switch so you can play online) and save yourself the time and effort. _________________

That sounds like more effort to me. How much do those sell for, by the way? And what's the typical price with installation?

More effort to get it in installed, a lot less effort when it comes to actually playing games (using about 3 different disc if you wanna play every type of game, buying the extra disc, etc) _________________

Or just buy a JPS2 and never worry about games not working _________________

I second that *Kisses J-PS2*
but modding you system (Non Swap mod chip) is also good to do...I'm not a fan of the flip top lid at all... _________________

Flip-top/Slide Card/Swap Magic is a nice alternative for people that don't wanna spend over $100 AND have to send out their PS2 for a few weeks. _________________

You see I probably would've done that if not for the fact that I didn't even have a US PS2. A fliptop + swap card and a US PS2 would've cost about the same as my JPS2 _________________

I have two PS2s...a J-PS2 and a US-PS2. I considered getting a modchip for my US-PS2, but then I began to worry about what would happen if they figured out how to make modchip detection on a PS2. _________________

Well let's see......
US PS2, new: $180 (no shipping since you can buy it here)
Flip-top w/Swap Magic Discs: $40 + 5 (ship) = $45
Total: $225
vs.
J-PS2, new @ JVG.com: $350 + >20 = $370+
$225 is not even CLOSE to $370.
You would have saved at least $145. With that, you could have bought the rest of the Styles..... _________________

A J-PS2 from JVG.com costs $279 for the new SCPH 50000 model. Shipping costs me $15. So while I would've saved some money, it wouldn't have been all that much. I still prefer a JPS2 because I know that I'll never have to deal with anti-mod games or swapping a game every time I want to play. _________________

whoops, my bad - I was looking at their Midnight Blue bundle.
But that's the only PS2 I could find on their site...
Meh, you woulda still saved 60 bucks. That's just about enough to get you an additional IIDX Style. _________________

No. Marketplace is for buying/selling Bemani. Not necessarily for advice on what to buy. _________________

This topic is kind of useless now since I received my JPS2, 5th and 6th style, and official Konami IIDX controller today. Japan Video Games rocks! 3 days from placement of order via UPS ground
I modded the controller with cardboard and took out the plastic slivers immediately after I received it, works great now. Now the hard part is finding 3rd and 4th style...more specifically 4th. _________________
