~Topic~ I think that the reason its so popular is because like 80% of america is fat and they want to exercise (kinda like me >.< ) _________________

I think it's good fun and the music is very catchy. The weight loss was only an added extra to me... _________________

Well i think its because people think there danceing when they are really not i mean lets face theres alot of people who cant dance who wish they could and this is a way for them to get out on to a dance floor.
Like first u r on a dance floor then there is pulsading music around u and of course there are those flashing lights and there are the great songs on DDR
i mean its like the mini video game version of being in a club sorta
also like in clubs there are different styles of dance on DDR like there is all kinds of FSing and then there is the different levels of PAing
and last and most importantly u can play this game and pick up chicks by busting out moves that will impress them. |

Why do we like Beat Mania? Because Beat Mania is a game that allows you to interact with cool music. Why do we like DDR, because it is fun to interact with cool music in a way that requires you to move your entire body. Moving your entire body requires energy, which translates into excitement, which in turn translates into fun. |

There are so many reasons why 'I' like DDR that I won't go into them here.
I think the game owes much of its popularity to being a Video game that involves you physically rather than having you sit down and try to shoot something down or beat someone up, etc.
Furthermore it appeals to both sexes while a lot of other games are fairly male orientated.
My 2 cents _________________

Well for me I don't think DDR is fun at all, but I enjoy disecting music and understanding it's technical points. Am I the only one that's trying to understand the difference between a 12th note and a 16th note and trying to find all the songs that go by 3 by 4 times. I enjoy the technical challenge that DDR offers. You other people truly understand DDR till you understand it on this level. _________________

i think ddr is really popular not only because of the fact that u can exercise while having fun....but also because u get attention from the public...when u play ddr, u can get a crowd...and the amount of attention is moderate...theres enough ppl to watch u play...but not enough to be embarrased if u fail a song...(unless u go to heavily populated arcades of course)... _________________

i think people play it for the sake of being social, so many ppl play ddr, bring their freinds and they all have a good time, plus it is a good form of exercise _________________

Not to be a downer and I don't want a new post cause it's a hassle, but is ddr dying out I went to Boomers this sunday and there were no hard core players. I saw two cocasian boys who were green and an infant play(with help) I was the only one getting down having a blast. They had an Extreme and an OG USA machine. |
