Well, I keep going to different topics and such and everyone posts that they've been playing for a year and a half or two years or a couple months...this highest I've seen was 2 and a half years.... But I've been playing for 5 years. Anyone else remember when 2nd mix just came out in the arcade and no one could beat paranoia maniac? haha, the good ol' days. E4.gif

Ego Trip? What does ego have to do with it? Because I've been playing for a long time? That doesn't show I'm better then most or anything... I knoiw plenty of people that are better then me, but whatever.

You compared other people's playing time of 2 and a half to your 5 or 6 years. Sounds like you're pulling a little 'old man' rank on them.

And just for the record, don't say 'the good ol' days' when you're referring back 6 or 7 years. It's not like you're going retro.

I wasn't trying to compare, I didn't mean to if that's what you thought. I was just saying of those who have posted their playing time, that's the highest I've seen. Not trying to say mine was better... I don't really think it's how long a person plays, it's how well they play..I just wanted to see who remembered things like when 2nd mix came out and stuff.... I never intended to compare anything or put myself on a higher level then anyone. So sorry if that's the impression you got. And I can refer it to as "the good ol' days" Because they were older days and they were good. It doesn't matter if it's a year ago or 20 years ago..if it's in the distant past they can be refered to in that way. And why are you arguing with me?

I'm arguing with you because I don't like people doing comparison bragging. Even if that's not what you weren't trying to do that's how it came across.

I think one can go "good ol' days" about pretty much anything. Applies even more on a forum like this one since most people are pretty young. 6 years ago for me means before I ever worked, before college, before moving out..

In other words, its a world away.

While I didn't play DDR until 4th Mix (and very rarely until MAX2) I can certainly see how different it was back then. Its a great deal more intimidating to start now that you see stuff like the Maxes and so on.

Quite a legitimate discussion topic, anyway if you don't like a thread, you don't read it, that's it.

Well, since DDR came out in September of 1998, it's impossible for you to have been playing for 5, almost 6 years. Try again.

It came out in the US sept. 1998, but I played the jap versions on my friend PS. But you're right, I think I might have rounded up when I say 5 to 6 years. It's more like 5 years, 6 is still awhile away.

It came out in Japan in September of 1998. The Japanese PSX version came out in early 1999. 6 years is at least over a year away. I get the impression that 2nd Mix was your first experience from your post, and if it was 2nd Mix for the PSX, then rounding up would make it 5 years, not 6.

Did I not just correct myself and say that it was five years?

I started playing around June 2000, but my first time ever was probably like late 1999

Uhmm I'm not really sure what the point of this topic was but yeah, I've been playing for a bit over 3 years... so uh... yeah...

lightbulb.gif I know how we can settle this one. Since Irennicus is a trick member, and Squall is only a basic member, we can determine Irennicus is better because he has quantity over quality.

We know quantity is better than quality because of his remark about Squall's five years of DDRing.

And... yea... I prefer having five quality items over 100 useless ones.

*pats Squall on the head* It'll be okay E7.gif

Never mind Paranoia being unbeatable - does anybody remember when you had to input cheat codes with the floor arrows to increase the difficulty?

I remember a time when I didn't know the cheat codes and had to think "I'm not playing the dance game - I've beaten everything on it."

Can you even imagine thinking that now?

I've been playing DDR since June 1, 2000. When I first started playing, I could do up to 2 footers. Now, I'm able to do most 9s, and 1 10. The 10 I can do is Sakura.

Fortunately for me, the arcade that I frequented (the Papillon in Kyoto, just a few blocks from the Shijou train station) had the codes for everything printed on a sheet of paper on the wall next to the DDR machine even before they upgraded to 1.5 (Internet Ranking Version). Of course, there was no Double Another or Maniac mode and only 9 songs, but man, it was so fun.

Yeah, except it hasn't been five years yet, and you couldn't have played the Jap version on PS in 1998.

Actually, thinking about it, you can say that I played for 5 years...I started playing DDR somewhere around September - December of 1998 when I was in fourth grade. Played for one year, took a 2-year break, picked it up again. I only beat 1 cata so far (Insertion).

Is this what you are talking about?
