I've played Paca Paca Passion 2. It's neat, and it scores points for supporting 2 players, but it just seems like a distilled mixture of Beatmania and Pop'n Music. Each player has 4 buttons, and plays back a pattern of notes on screen. The notes are stationary, and a "cursor" bar moves over them. Old bars of music are replaced with new ones once they're played, and the cursor wraps back to the top of the screen when it reaches the bottom. This style of display really threw me off. Basically, what you try to do is beat your opponent by playing more accurately. I didn't get into it too deeply, since there was almost no English, and I was too lazy to translate, so I probably missed a bit here and there. The game's entertaining, but I'd recommend Pop'n Music 7 or 8. Then you get tons of music, more intuitive gameplay, and you still have a two player Battle mode.

But frankly, $33 for Paca Paca Passion, and $49 for a single player controller would just be too much.
