Ok, here's an idea I've been toying with: I like long songs on DDR, even though I'm not that good at it yet to really appreciate it (4 Step Basic, but improving!). What if Konami made an American only mix of DDR that had nothing but songs over 3 minutes long and under 7? And, because it's American only, what would happen if some non Disco/Trance/House/J-Pop/J-Rock songs got put in? Only 55 songs would make it and 25 of those would be long remixes of DDR favorites?

What songs would you want to make into long remixes for DDR? And what other songs would you like for this mix to have?

Discuss. biggrin.gif

My Picks:

DDR Remixes
Burnin' The Floor (Needs a longer mix.)
Kind Lady (Love that groove)
Make Your Move (Good soul songs need length)
B4U

Non DDR Long Songs
The Offspring - No Brakes
The Offspring - All I Want
Queens Of The Stone Age - No One Knows
Slipknot - Wait And Bleed (Imagine that on Heavy! At least 10 steps!)
Mudvayne - Dig
System Of A Down - Innervision
69 Boyz - Daisy Dukes (Gotta love the dirrrrrrty south! biggrin.gif)
Ludacris - Southern Hospitality
Ludacris - Act A Fool
Master P - Make Em' Say Unnnhhh!
Darude - Sandstorm
The Streets - Let's Push Things Forward (That would be great to do doubles on with a bit of freestyling!)

Really?! Why didn't I see it on DDR Extreme? That would be an awesome song to do with the freeze arrows.

Sandstorm Heavy has a plenty of freezes, not sure why they didn't put it on Extreme though...such a good song...

I would think hip-hop/rap would lend itself best to a dancing game like DDR, so I would say put some Nelly, Big Tymers, maybe even some Missy Eliot on a long mix.

Although there is already a topic for what songs you would have added to DDR, so you may want to go there...this may get locked.

I do really wish they would bring the long versions back since only 5th mix had them. I love Dynamite Rave Long ver.

I am getting tired just thinking of a 3 to 7 minute song.

That because Komani was smart and figured out the song is really too monotonous.

I like your idea, except for the part you keep emphasising: "American-only." I could argue all day that most modern American artists lack what I call talent, but that'd probably lead to flaming =-|

The Japanese songs give DDR its tasty flavor. I mean, you did list Burnin' The Floor and B4U.... and it turns out these are both Japanese songs. Even if you were to scrap great Japanese artists like Kosaka Riyu, Sana, or DJ Taka, the big thing that makes DDR different from Beatmanai is NAOKI. Even in DDR USA (the crappy American-only mix that already exists) NAOKI created 7/26 songs and 2/26 were remixes of NAOKI's songs by 2MB.

The long version idea is interesting though. However, you'd have to select your mix's song carefully. You'd have bounty hunters going after your head if you were to do something like..... add So Deep (Perfect Sphere Mix) to your game riiight.gif

Um...........no. I dislike Ludacris, and the only rock songs that I can think of that would be danceable are Jet World, Right on Time, and Magical Jet Tour.

I'd like to see...

Sara - Burning Up For You [4:48]
Vincent De Moor - Fly Away [8:11, should be shortened down to about 5 minutes]
Nathalie - Heartbeat [5:01]
dj TAKA feat. Sana - rainbow flyer (extended vocal mix) [5:11]
Sana - Let the Snow Paint Me (full version) [4:35]
Niko - Night of Fire (full version) [5:10]
Dirty Vegas - Days Go By [5:01]

Yes, I'm thinking of Bonus Tracks a la GF/DM.

I wouldn't say modern American artists lack talent. In fact they are incredibly talented at making money off of music that sounds like shit.

I will let you in on a secret. The thing that really makes Beatmania and DDR different is that Beatmania has good songs. The only good songs in DDR are not from DDR.

Is this statement not relative to the person listening to the music? Were you speaking only about yourself?

What can you expect from someone with the letters IIDX in their name =-p I love DJ Taka just as much as NAOKI (now if only DJ Taka had more remixes for his songs). But NAOKI just has so many more songs and his songs span a larger spectrum of genres. If you don't like one of NAOKI's songs, you still have a bajillion more to choose from.

However, my favorite cata on DDR is Kakumei by.... *gasp* BOTH DJ Taka AND NAOKI =-D (and I'm pretty sure Taka gets top billing too) If only the two made more songs together.

i wouldn't say that the ONLY good songs in DDR aren't from DDR...there are some good ones, esp. the new songs in 4th+, 5th, 6th, and extreme. But lots of the good songs are from IIDX - i know biggrin.gif and that's not disputable...it's just true.

Well dj TAKA has a lot more songs too that are only on BM and IIDX. Actually, I like TaQ more than dj TAKA though. oh and Outphase pwnz j00...

But back to the topic at hand. 3-7 minute songs is just crazy. Those 3 minute songs on 5th mix were too long as is. I think its better as it is now. Err....actually it would be better if they allowed songs to be a little bit longer if thats how the songs were already. Yes I am talking about all the shortened/cut "for Extreme" versions of IIDX songs put in the game.

Actually, 2MB is U1-Asami, according to the DDRMAX Manual, but what the heck, there's too many aliases in DDR already.

Gasp? You like TaQ more than Taka? You are exiled from the forums!

Naw... I like a couple of TaQs songs, but others it seems he has the gift to make a 2 minute songs more repetitive than the full version of So Deep =-/

But era does rox indeed.
