For me, and probably alot of other players, it was 5th mix. I played 2nd before, but 5th was what really got me into DDR.

DDR MAX

I only play at one arcade, I live 1 mile away from it, so why would I go anywhere else? Anyway, the first mix they had was US mix (the one with 10 or so songs) yeah... you know the one. I really didnt like it mainly because of the shitty song selection. But one day, that mix was gone and it was replaced by a nice DDR MAX, I was happy, finally a real mix. Even though I sucked at the time (trick songs) and the maniac versions of those songs were uber tough for me. I was happy because it actually had a real song list, I used to always play HVAM on that machine... that machine is an an extreme now, good times...

Probably 4th Mix+ because of its huge song selection and All Music mode. This was of course all before the days of Extreme.

I was raised on 3rd mix, so naturally it had the greatest impact on me. Although, we got a 5th later on, and that is where my experience grew and I got a lot better.

3rd mix korean. I loved not knowing what the hell I was doing and I never really knew that I was blessed with the amazing korean songs. Then later I refined my skills on Max 2, but those weren't my best moments simply because I got good, my best moments were on the 3rd mix machine. Then we got extreme and it all went downhill, feels like all I do is play for score now, and even though I kinda like doing that, I kinda hate it too... dunno. I wish I was like 10 pounds lighter, then I could get into freestyling, which has always been my true passion.

I had a variety of mixes to choose from when I started playing, but the mix I grew up on was the 5th Mix (now MAX2 frown.gif ) machine at college. MAX2 was too intimidating for me, and the other mixes looked like crud and weren't as fun as 5th.

I, as well as a few other members, (Like Kristine xD ) grew up on my local MAX2 ;D

Then my arcade got another MAX2, an Extreme and 5th mix, so I stopped growing up and I am now livin the big DDR life xD

I grew up on a 4th mix but the one to have the biggest impact on me was 5th. The interface was just great to me compared to 4th's and the songs were great. I loved it.

Yeah, the 5th Mix colors were just so much more...."inviting", I guess you could say.

DDR Extreme....

I started on the PS2 DDR MAX, but the pad is godawful.

At my arcade, there's an Extreme machine. Extreme is the only arcade mix I've played.

Examining the following equation:
Extreme > DDRMAX for PS2

Extreme has had the biggest influence on me.

The only thing I don't like about extreme compared to DDRMAX is the sissy backgrounds.... Y'know the ones I'm talking about.... (the Yoga bunny, the green guy in the bumper car... not as cool as the PS2 backgrounds)

I learned on a 3rd mix. But I don't hold it near and dear to my heart.

Max2 is what really got me playing the game. It gave me a reason to play because there was more to do than just FC a song.
