Hey, I was just wondering if the videos will ever be back online? This is just my personal oppinion, but I think the videos are a key attraction to your site. I first found out about ddr freak from my friend who showed me some "crazy freestyle" movies. And those got passed around and I think that is how most of my friends got to know about ddr freak. And frankly, I rarely come here anymore because the videos just kinda became a key to your site. The step charts are hardly updated enough to be a major part of the site, so it is all in the faqs and videos. The message board is great and all but it's not part of the ddr freak website. It's just a seperate place where people come together to chat.

As far as the website, I really wish you guys would bring back the videos. Otherwise it feels poinltess to even type ddrfreak.com into my address bar.

Wow, that's the same thing word for word, except written two weeks ago!

Suggestion: Add a response to this to the FAQ. " Where are the videos from __________ " and "When are videos coming back online??" is something that's pretty frequently asked from these boards. You may wish to take the opportunity to adress issues of encoding labor and bandwith usage to potential new users (and old) reading the FAQ.

Maybe sticking a disclaimer on the video page would be better than putting it in the FAQ. A lot more people would check the video page for video info than would look in the FAQ for it. . .

*deposits two cents into skie's tip jar*

Thanks for the tip riiight.gif As J Dogg pointed out though, there already is a disclaimer on the FAQ page. I more wanted to point out that it's a question that's plauging the forums as a frequently asked question as well, so perhaps it needs to be put in the forums FAQ. I think a friendly reminder about the real costs, both labor and bandwith that go into making the videos would not be out of place in the forum FAQ (I think it would also be nice for this reminder to be on the video page as well-- even when the videos do go back up)

J Dogg, I also get what you're saying about that disclaimer being up there a while, but that's also the problem. When the message doesn't change, people think it's been forgotten about... trust me I have a really outdated website that I constantly get complained at about updating. riiight.gif

And lastly, I don't know the feasibility of this suggestion but I'll suggest it anyway-- I know that Bit Torrent has become a popular method of distributing large files recently without putting too much strain on ones server. It doesn't strain the server because the actual file isn't hosted on the server-- it's limited P2P... as a person downloads a file, they are also uploading that same file to the people who are behind. If it's looking like it's going to be a while before you get a new server again, wouldn't it be neat if you could just either ZIP all the videos together, or put them up individually as Bit Torrent files. The largest demand for videos seems to come about two weeks after a tournament, so the videos page could be like... OK here's all the Bit Torrent seeds for the tournaments that happened here and here and here last weekend, Happy Downloading. more info on bit torrent. ......just a suggestion E1.gif

E19.gif O.k. so I'm kinda confused. I have read this whole board and nowhere does it mention any projected date to have the videos back online. Is there? thanks

No, there isn't one. Wow, this seems a bit like the step charts, and the Poll of the Week, and... blink.gif
