Ok little kids can get annoying...What are some of your experiances with DDR at the arcade and little kids screwing you up on oni or any other song? I don't have time to post so I will do so tomorrow.

Well, i spose this is KINDA the kids fault.
i was waiting my turn for ddr and saw a kid enter the arcade, sight out a certain game, and run off.
i was picking a song when he came back and he had an old man with him (obviously his source of money). The kid and the man were playin games when I was doin B4U on heavy. Then, during Era the old guy got really violent against the pinball machine and started pounding it. I was on the 1P side so i could see him and i guess it made me lose concentration and fail.
Like I said, I think this qualifys as the kids fault. When he brought the man in, he looked pretty pissed to be there.

Well, I was playing... I don't remember what it was, but I stepped on the kid and he started crying. I didn't say sorry or anything, if anything he should have said sorry to me. Made me get a B... I also tend to accidently hit people when they are shadowing me. devil.gif

well i've also experienced the little kid curse....but i try to avoid stepping on them, cuz i don't wanna hurt myself, that's the last thing i need is to step on some little punk's leg and me fall down and blow my knee out or somethin'......

but anyway, i usually get down to their level, look them in the eye and tell them that they have to get off, if their old enough to understand, they usually listen and jump off......

You guys don't know about the unwritten DDR rule? I haven't been playing that long, but there is
one rule that absolves DDR players from all repercussions involving injury to small children
invading our space on the stage:

If our space is invaded, we have the right to ignore their presence, even if that means they are
injured in the process. 90% of the time, the biggest moneymaker in any arcade is the DDR machine(s).
The arcade owners/managers/employees usually know this, which helps a lot. They rely on the regular
DDR players for a good portion of their profit, not only because of the money they make off them, but
also the crowds that gather and through word of mouth about "that guy/girl doing some freaky-hard dance."
If the DDR player does not like the atmosphere he's in, and has to deal with little kids (deal = be
nice to them), they're either going to play somewhere else, or at home. Thus, lost money for the arcade.
Yes, DDR is that big. Especially considering the investment an arcade puts into a machine

All the stories I've heard so far involving that situation, where a little kid was going to/got stepped
on or hurt, and the parents doggy and yelled, the parents and kid were KICKED OUT of the arcade.
So don't feel bad about stepping on a kid. Get your money's worth outta the game!

I put my backpack on the side I'm not playing on to keep tempted Shadowers to keep off. If anyone gets on or tries to distract me, I throw something at them or yell "GET THE F U C K AWAY YOU MORON!"

I completely agree with you. I tell the parent to keep their kid off the pad while I'm playing because it distracts me.

I was playing on the 2P side on an Extreme, playing Max2 Paranoia Brothers, and there is this FLOCK of kids just swarming around the machine, resting on the 1P side, resting ON MY BAR, talking to me and asking me and stomping randomly. ARGH. And then some toddler starts walking around in the space between the pads and the game, and just goggles at me. So annoying. At least the mother had enough sense to get the toddler away from me..

Luckily, I didn't fail the course.

Ok, as I have said yestarday night when I posted this I will reply now. My local arcade has a bunch of little birthday parties. It seems to be a never ending process with the little kids. Just yestarday I was playing Pop4 normal. I was doing excellent, phenominal, the best I've ever done. I made it past the first song with a AAA and then I got 1 great on Cartoon Heroes. During this two songs I racked up major points with the marlvs. which I had never done before. Then came I'm gonna get you. This song is always my Pop4 downfall, but not that day. I only managed to get a few greats and a ton of Marlvs. Then there was I Do I Do I Do......damn....Right as the song starts a HUGE swarm of little kids come storming in, but that didn't distract me. Then they started jumping on the top skater machine and banging stuff and creating havoc. That's when it happened..."Great, great, great, great, great, great, perfect, great, perfect, great, marlv" I was so pissed. I felt that the kids should all pay me .75 for the record they just deprived from me.

Another time had to do with Oni on Naoki neo. While I was on B2U some little kid thought it would be clever to jump on the other dance pad and stomp away. I didn't really do much cause as long as he wasn't in my way he was fine. Then near the end he started stomping on MY dance pad. I failed the song cause of that little bastard. He then claimed that the game was "boring" after he had a furious workout failing my song.

At the mall arcades, you tend to get young players with way too much attitude or teen boys trying to impress their friends by stepping on the back or side arrow while you play. disgust.gif
At places like Major Magics, you get little kids running laps around the machines that feel they should just run in front of you, between mat and machine, instead of moving behind you. I dunno, I don't really get distracted by little kids that try to play, they generally are too shy to be brats. That doesn't start till they hit puberty around here. E4.gif

While I was playing 3rd Mix in Ghettoville, IL, a little African-American kid came up to me, tugged my pants, and said, "You gotta quata?" I daid, "Not for you right now I don't." I've had so many problems with little children. Another one was a little kid who thought he was better than me and was telling me how to play, and what songs to play. If I could've gotten one minute in an inconspicuous place with that little rodent... grrr...
