Hey everyone, I just got my first DDR Game/Pad yesterday and have already found a great DDR forum (right here).
Anyways, I got DDRMAX and a Dance Pad Revolution 2 (DPR2), made by Naki I think. Is this a good first pad?
I played a little last night but the pad moves too much, so I'm going to mod it. When I say that, I mean I'm just going to duct-tape it to some plywood. I honestly don't care about playing in shoes, as long as I have a solid surface to stand on and as long as it doesn't move everywhere. Should this work good enough?
I hope to have a blast getting into this whole DDR thing. Wish me luck! |

Ask the DDR console forum. They will have the better opinions. _________________

If you're starting out on DDRMax that is a fairly decent pad to use. I myself have a NAKI soft pad. Just tape it to plywood and you'll be all set. Don't count on AAing Max300 heavy with a soft pad though...it's literally impossible with a soft pad, modded or not. I'm FINALLY getting a metal dance pad!!!! I ordered one yestarday and I can't wait!!! Well good luck with your dance pad! |

Depending on your carpet, you could buy some velcro strips to stick under ur soft pad. _________________

When I got Max for my PS2, I got a Mad Catz Beat Pad. There is a lot of criticism about it slipping and missing beats, butI found it to not move very much and works well on tile. But I weigh 200+ pounds. Does that have anything to do with it?
You should save up and buy a metal pad or check the DDR Console forum. Some of the guys there, such as ddrhomepad, built their own metal arcade style pads. They also included instructions on how to build their pads, but the material cost alone made me want to buy a Cobalt Flux, since they are supposedly reliable, but they're expensive. Three hundred dollars is a bit much for most people. Oh well... But the mateials for a home built lingers around $135, but unless you know EXACTLY what to do, you will probably screw up and waste money, time, and good materials. _________________
