my family is thinking about opening an arcade and my assignment is to come up with the machines. we are on a low budget starting out but i could never let my parents own an arcade without.... a ddr machine! the problem is (the ideal machine) ddr extreme- is expensive as hell. on coinopexpress.com there is a 1st mix for a lot less. i dont know what we should do because i dont want people do be like ewww a first mix and not play it. would you play a first mix? by the way the only extreme is about 1/2 hour away.... do you think people would rather play first mix or drive to the extreme? _________________

no offense, but they would ALL drive to the Extreme machine, the best way for you to do this is, to buy a 3rd mix machine, and upgrade it to an EX......and make sure it has memory card slots, those are always useful. |

Given the choice between 1st and Extreme...Extreme. I would highly suggest a 3rd Mix instead. Granted, it's twice the price of a 1st...
Another suggestion would be to pick up a Solo machine. It's unusual enough that people may want to go to your place and try it (I know I would), and it's not much more expensive than a 1st mix (cheaper, if you get Solo2K). Plus, later on, you can acquire more machines and link'em!
Just a thought. _________________

Start out with a 3rd MIX.
after you make more money, go for MAX2/Extreme.
My Arcade went from 3rd, to 5th, to MAx, to MAX2.
So mabey Extreme.
It works out fine. _________________

If u don't really feel like going through the upgrading process and everything then just buy a 4th Mix, 4th Mix Plus, or 5th Mix all 3 cover the songs on 1st, 2nd, 3rd. Except 5th which has songs from each mix. _________________

So maybe Extreme.

Go with that idea, it is the best one I have heard yet. _________________

DO NOT get a first mix machine, you won't get your money returned for it. An EX machine would yield a much greater return (Easily over it's cost). I doubt you'd break even with a first mix machine. |

If you can only afford a 1st mix, I don't think you should be opening an arcade. Save up for another year. |

I'd say get a 3rd or a 5th and later when you get more money, get an Extreme. Extreme's are getting too common so variety is nice. _________________

I agree... do not get a 1st mix machine. I would recommend getting nothing less than a Max machine... so, whatever you have to do to upgrade it... whether it's buying a 5th mix machine and upgrading or a 3rd mix machine... Though, pads on 3rd mix were not good at all... ugh... If you can, just save up until you can buy an Extreme machine... or sacrifice a couple other crappy machines so you can get an extreme machine. _________________

your better off buying a third mix machine and making 50cents then wait for people to come and soon you'll be able to upgrade it and maybe even get a IIDX machine as well, _________________

Nobody wants to play 1st mix because everybody has the 1st mix songs at home and Extreme features every 1st mix song in existence.
My suggestion is to continue to save your money, or perhaps open your arcade without getting DDR. Once you make some profit, use some of the profit to purchase DDR 3rd, 4th, 5th, Max, Max2, or Extreme. |

honestly, i would probably prefer 5th mix. cuz there is a lot of good songs only on 5th mix.
and you should also get a machine with a arcade link. _________________

Your probably better off saving your money cause you won't make much profit from a 1st Mix machine. The 1st Mix machines have been extinct and nobody really wants to see it back. Less songs and all the other crap. 8th Mix is what most places have and it brings alot of profit.... |

Like others have said, I would get a 3rd Mix. If there was a 1st mix machine near where I lived (there are no machines near me at all) I would occasionaly play it (maybe once a week?) but I would frequent an arcade more often that had a 3rd mix. |
