well i know i've lost major interest in playing. i'll be lucky if i stop through an arcade once a week for 1-2 games to play. about a year ago (and for 3 years before that) i was super excited all to play all the time, and could play for hours on end, but iduno... ive basically done everything and dont have much motivation to continue hardcore like i used to. thats not to say its becomming unpopular though. sure some of the 'veterans' arent playing as much, but there are always new people wanting to learn to play and whatnot. iduno. </ramble> _________________

most of the good players i would look up to back in the 3rd/4th/5th mix days are now worse than me or dont play anymore. ive also noticed more new players showing up so it looks like its getting more popular.
personally im getting a little sick of ddr. along with cfusionpm, i used to play for hours and hours but now, its just boring. i usually play once a week now. |

Well it's not technicaly getting "Unpopular" it's just that people are losing interest so they don't really associate with it as much... on the other hand more people from other places... are just beginning DDR so it's not just everyone that's losing DDR cuz i've been playing for over a year and I still play as much _________________

With people AA'ing and AAA'ing heavy songs, what left is there to do? Not to mention that DDR has been around, what? 4? 5 years? Thats a long time. |

I agree, the old players that always used to be with me around the DDR machine have faded away. Some of them arent as skilled anymore or are just never around anymore. I don't like the new lot of people that are coming to play at the arcade. DDR n00bs as we call them treat the arcade like crap and do not follow coin-line rules, when the know them because we tell them time and time again.
I hope this changes someday... _________________

DDR is an endless cycle. Players start with DDR as newbies. They eventually become experts, and then they lose interest once they have almost completely perfected their skills. But then some other newbie starts to get into DDR and the cycle continues. Konami obviously realizes this, because it looks like they are actually going to make more DDR arcade mixes. |

Bah? Says whoo? When you AA Max Unlimited, then you put it on 1.5x boost. When you AA that, put it on 3x, Boost, Reverse. If you still get that... Make an edit data. With a lot of 16ths. There is NEVER going to be someone who can actually play Sakura on 1.5x with fully loaded 32nd beats... EVER. It's physically not possible to play that with only two feet. (60 steps per SECOND if you think it might be).
Meanwhile, we can all have a hell of a time trying to pass the apocolyptic edits some psychos out there are developing right now. Even these experts didn't come to AAing there own 32nd beat loaded songs of boomy doom. Even if such a song was only 90 BPM, it'd still be faster than Max 300 as 12 SPS vs. 10 SPS (Step/Sec.)

I know when I got my pop 'n controller i began to play DDR exponentally less. I just have to remind myself to go out for a run more often b/c pop'n doesn't burn of the calories quite as well .
I just hate those trendwhores that pass Maxx Unlimited Heavy in a month, then make a huge annoucement to the world how they are "retiring" from ddr b/c it isn't cool and IIDX is the only cool thing to do now. Bah. |
i love all benami games, they're the reason i'm still alive....and in my opinion ddr is extrodinarily fun but, sometimes you need variety...you think you have "l33t SiGhT rEaDiNg SkIlLz" untill you play IIDX _________________

I play all bemani games, I play DDR, Drummania, and Pump It Up!. I know that pump is Andimaro (or something like that) but I consider it Bemani because it has music in it. _________________

1. PUMP SUX i hate it i hate it.
2. i think the reason is people dont like the new stuff that ddr is comming out with i mean max 2 owns hands down but when i played ddr extreme theres like nothing... there... no feeling its like i hate to say it but just a game like its just dun dun dun done. But in max 5th, 4th.etc there was actualy emotion in the game like you could take pride in your steps and moves but now its like....nothing... no pride no joy just steps... *sigh* |

well, i still play just as much as I used to, if not more.
I've been playing for well over a year now too.
A few months back I was considering giving up DDR because I didn't think I really had anything left to do. I didn't think AAing Max300 or Maxx Unlimited was in the realm of possibility. I could only last 30 seconds in Extra Stage on a good day. I had completed everything on singles, including all the Max2 onis, except demon road of course. Double onis seemed even more difficult than AAing a 10 footer.
I felt like there was nothing left for me to do. But then I got a AAA. Ever since then I've been playing a shitload of songs trying for more AAAs. I've discovered how wonderful holding that bar is. I've AAed 10s. I've almost passed the Max2 Extra stage and I'm coming close to passing a bunch of Double onis. Now I have new challenges. Challenges that no longer seem impossible.
So I continue to play. |

DDR EXTREME has gotten me back into the game.... but it's just not the same. I'm one of those that started back on a 3rd Mix Plus machine in Japan..... 5th Mix is my favorite... it's just that those days were better. The game was till fresh in both the US and Japan. it was something "new". The music was also much more unique. Now DDR music is, well, real music.... and although that's cool(I love Trance), it's just not the same, if that makes any sense.
It's been played out, I guess. Ever since DDRMAX, it seems to have been fading.... in Japan it's been fading since 5th Mix...
I love DDR. I still play it.... but Konami needs to change something.... or just give the game a break.... and not release another mix for a long time (like instead of 6 months, wait a year or something.) It's just not "fresh" anymore.
But hey, I'm still playing... and I will continue to as long as Konami keeps making new mixes.... which sadly now is looking unlikely.
