Has anyone else seen this error on an Extreme machine?

Symptom: 1. The screen freezes but the song continues on, and 2. the screen goes black with the message "RTC error". 3. This error also appears at times upon the bootup.

/me scratches his head

Interesting.

Here are the 3 suggestions that I can make.

1. Get a fresh copy of the extreme game disc. This will help with the freezing of the arrows while the song is playing since it sounds like data isnt being transfered right from the CD.

2. Get a new CD Rom drive. This will also help with the freezing. New as in a good used one since most of the ones that work inside a DDR machine have probably already been used.

The Panasonic CR series 589-B or above works in the DDR machine. There doesnt appear to be one for sale on ebay at the moment or else I would link you. Be in search for one as they are getting harder and harder to find. I personally have a new one inside my machine and two new spares for when that one goes.

3. Re-install Extreme. I'm not a Guru of the Onboard, but I do know that when you reinstall the mix, you write over the RTC data and then have to clear the data from the first boot of the mix.

Let me know how it turns out.
