Please post all your step chart questions and problems here. I hope to answer some FAQs below:

1. When are the new Extreme steps going to be up?

I am currently working on a new step chart engine which will enable us to be more flexible with the file formats we use to generate the steps. This should be ready to be released by Mar 24.

2. Why are the step counts off?

It's a side effect of the way we handle hold arrows. This will be fixed with Step Charts v2

3. ____ song is wrong. please fix it

Because we are working on a new step chart engine, requests to fix songs will have to wait until the development of the step chart engine is finished.

4. Why are you redoing the step chart engine instead of just adding songs?

The new step chart engine will have support for DWI and BMS files, tempo changes, tempo stops, freeze arrows, etc. This should make things easier for us to update and make changes in the future.

If the step-chart engine supports tempo-changes and freezes, does that mean it will display where there are tempo changes and freezes on the chart itself?

That's a feature I've thought would be helpful for a long time.

Rock. *thumbsup*

However, in terms of tempo-freezes... a number in pure milliseconds often isn't as useful as just a number of beats. For example, it's not too useful to know that the pause in "Abyss" is 3692 milliseconds long. However, knowing that it's 8 beats long is pretty darn nice.

At other times, though, there's no real way to express the tempo-freeze other than milliseconds, because it's a freeze across a tempo-change, or it's just an awkward length.

Just something to consider.

Not to sound hasty but, it is the 25th.

Though I'd rather it not be released prematurely. Can we have an update on the status?

DWI parser is done. The work that's left to do is hook up the files to the existing infrastructure

Wonderful. Now how long, generally, will the final production take?

Like you could make a step chart for Look To The Sky on x2 and x3.

Why would you need that?

You are just going to have to wait for the new step charts like the rest of us.

By "months ago", you mean "in late February", right?

Because our headline about it was Feb. 24th.

Like on Bag. Some people can't read it on x1 on step charts so that is when we would need it.

And like Love Is A Danger Zone on Wild Style.

the steps are the same no matter what speed you play it at

when you speed it up to keep everything evenly mixxed to the music you have to add space between the physical arrows but the steps themselves dont change

When talking about the step charts, and talking about 'bag', a speed modifier would make it much easier to read.

He's talking about wanting that physical space you are talking about in the step chart. The zyx-19 chart was hard to read.
