Hey guys.

Okay, this is probably a weird thought. Don't laugh.

I was wondering if playing DDR daily could be bad for the brain. I mean, maybe, jumping all day could cause some slight brain concussions, because the cerebrospinal fluid doesn't absorb 100% of the shocks. Maybe this could (very slightly) impair cognition over time. Some people are worried about that when using these "power plate" machines and I thought it could be way worse with DDR.

But I'm probably just being paranoid.

What do you think?

If DDR gives you brain concussions, then so does running, walking, jogging, swimming, and all other exercise.

So I would say you're being paranoid.

Your body was designed to displace impact in such a way that running, jumping, and other motions associated with typical body movement wouldn't hurt you or your brain.

Now, if you hit your head on the DDR machine, that's a different story.

This reminds me of when I stayed at my grandpa's house for about a week and was mostly playind DDR/SM the whole time I was there (I'm not obsessive, but there was literally nothing to do at that place)

Seeing me play various 10 footers and above, he was amazed but suggested that maybe I shouldn't play the game so much because he thinks that moving your legs around so much at such a fast pace could mess up your knees.

Eh, who knows.

If you're stomping the pad hard enough to cause a brain injury, you're playing it wrong.

Well, I have seen some people, after they heard a bunch a references to stomping, thought they had to stomp on the pad with all their might to get the machine to respond.

The brain is cushioned in the skull. You would have to be doing some Incredible Hulk-styled stomping to give yourself brain damage.

Playing on your head would probably do it though.

Those signs warning you about slipping: They're right.
