Weird, does it have a timing window but only tell you what you're getting on the side of the screen? I'm confused.
If it's fun, I'll play it. I hope it's more than just a home-version kind of thing. ITG and DDR are so different, so I see no reason that another 4-panel dance game would be the same as either.
Also, European dancing game championships look realllllllllllly fun. _________________

You can only see your timing in the small box on either the left or right it appears, so I guess you can't see your combo or current score. That was cool seeing Chris Foy play Anubis in that one video.
Wish I had something like that in my school... _________________

No, no, you guys have it wrong. what you're referring to is something completely different. It's a special program they developed for schools so that up to 32 people can play ITG (DDR too?) at the same time and actually know how well they're doing instead of just shadowing. iDance is a different project that will be their own dance game similar to DDR or ITG. |
Interesting. I just want to see something on iDance itself... _________________

Well, both projects have caught my attention.
Let's see how far this will go b4 Konami puts their foot down. _________________

i played this before. i played the public demo. It's just on screen of arrows and 32 players are listed on the side and it shows the score and what percent they made in each box. |

It's a fun, economic multiplayer approach.
It wouldn't be half-bad either for tourney seeding. |

Just watched the videos there - what a great thing. I'd LOVE to see something like that in our schools. People might actually want to go to gym class!
This goes so far beyond what even CF or anyone else in the US seems to have as a school package - plastic mats that don't attach to anything? This way, you have, say, 30 people in class, they can all score and find out how well (or not) they're doing.
If I was still teaching aerobics, I'd be nagging the gym owners about this. Would be a most excellent way to get people to work out. I may only be a 5 to 6 footer, but I know how to generally teach and encourage people.
Actually, I'm loving their metal pad for me (not the group wireless one, just the regular one) ... in the second video he says there is one for consumers/home users, and then the wireless for groups, but they're not on the site. _________________

All this stuff you guys are talking about is their multidance program which has been around for awhile, not their i-dance project.
Like I said before, does anyone actually know about this new game? |

Am I the only one seeing DDR and ITG2 machines and logos on the righthand side? _________________

DT, you mean the cabs in the videos? Nope you're not the only one! They definitely are ITG2 cabs
Plus in the interview section with Ole Petter, ITG is what they're using/recommending as the "best" game out there. And of course having Chris Foy, Key Step Artist for ITG says they've got to be working together.
The metal pads for consumers and schools (the wireless ones) I have no idea who's making those, just says PG Positive Gaming Impact Multiplayer (I believe that would be the wireless for up to 32 people pad).
Edit: was reading the History tonight: http://positivegaming.com/index.php?id=history
and they apparently are, as of Feb, '08, making metal dance pads.
Quote: | February 2008
Positive Gaming proudly announces the revolutionary new professional Impact series of dance platforms. Developed over the last 2 years, these dance platforms incorporate qualities never seen before outside of the arcades. Fine-tuned accuracy, low weight (under 10 kg), extreme durability, easy to handle, all rounded edges, arcade style and interchangeable parts are only a few key words to describe these new platforms. |
Whether this is still CF I don't know, but in:
[quote]September 2005
Partnered up with Cobalt Flux Inc. to produce dance pads in Europe.[quote]
Be nice to see this company make their presence known here in the US. They apparently did ntroduce their product line to the US for the first time at IHRSA 2008, which was in March.
I just sent them an email asking about the consumer pads, will see if I get an answer and what they have to say.
Edit again! Got an answer ... still have some questions for them (who me? a million questions?!), but it appears that they may be looking to enter the home wired pad field at some time next year that will have a control box for PS2/XBOX/Mac/Linux/USB. The size and weight are perfect, it even has a carry handle ON the pad! The big thing will be the price. Unless something changes - they use different materials, etc., this is going to be one REALLY expensive homepad. As in more than CF or 3" BS _________________
