On several songs from DDR, I've noticed that part of the title is "From NONSTOP MEGAMIX", such as Sexy Planet (FROM NONSTOP MEGAMIX). Is Nonstop Megamix the name of a DDR game or a music album? I've been wondering about this.

It's from the DDR soundtracks, which each come with two discs, the first has every song from that mix in its "DDR" form (roughly 1:30 songs) and then a second disc with a Nonstop Megamix (DDR2nd - SN2). In the Nonstop Megamix all the songs from that mix and sometimes extra ones are mixed together into one hour+ megamix.
Most of the Nonstop Megamix songs debuted in a DDR soundtrack in one form or another (Konami sometimes remixes their own songs on the megamixes), they added them as playable in courses only on DDRMAX2 and into Game Mode in EXTREME.

"DDR NONSTOP MEGAMIX" was a project originally slated for release on the PS2 in Japan back around 2002. Promotional artwork was released and much hype was made about the game, but nothing much ever came of it. Some cite in-fighting between the production staff, but most just chalk it up to the momentum of DDR Extreme overshadowing it all.
Though it never saw a standalone release, some of the finished songs and stepcharts did make it into later DDR releases. Those are the "From Nonstop Megamix" songs you see in DDR today. For further reading, you can check out this nice little Wikipedia article. |
