Hey everyone,

I just purchased an ITG PS2 Bundle w/ game and two pads off of Target.com (only $20 for those who are interested). I was wondering if anyone could elaborate on the quality of the pads that come with the bundle.

How do they compare to the basic Konami or Beatpads? Do they hold up well? Any comments would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I purchased the exact same bundle (from target also). When I recieved mine, I immediately did the "soft pad mod" and created a nice doubles platform. The reason I did this was because I had two konami pads that turned to crap within two months. I have not had them that long yet, but so far the quality seems very similar to the konami ones.

short version-

I've had these pads for well over a year now.

I still get AAA's on DDR with them, they've survived a 220lb person passing Pandy flatfooting, as well as the other 12's, bar and no bar.

they're good as long as you mod them. mine are modded for doubles. one of the pads is worse than the other one, but that was the pad i used for about a month before I modded them.

As long as you mod them, they will last.

I got mine at Gamestop for $60 frown.gif

I'll have to try and mod them, then. Thanks for the help.

Just throw a piece of plywood down on the floor and put the pad on it. I stapled my pad down for a day and it seemed a lot less responsive when stepping lightly so I took the staples out and it's more responsive. The only problem I have with this setup is that on harder songs the plywood moves and I think I'm getting pad misses but when I look down the pad is WAY out of place. I actually failed a vertex beta edit that I made from the pad moving in the middle of me playing. I was comboing about 400 notes in and then once it moved I starting missing about 1 out of every 4 arrows. I thought they were pad misses until the end of the song when I looked down at my feet and the pad was really out of place. frust.gif

If you do the mods, they're not too bad. But no matter what you do to them they still have nothing to do with the arcade pads, so if you play at home a lot expect a big difference at the arcade. This is pretty much because the arcade has recessed arrows and has brackets, and (duh) is made of metal. Once you play on them both you'll know what I mean.

Just got the game/pads in the mail yesterday. I'm actually surprised with the pad quality. They barely slip at all on a tiled floor, and I haven't modded them yet.

Thanks for the help.

I didn't even use mine until I modded them. I played a lot of ITG today with them (with shoes) and got some sick combos. They quality is still unaffected. E1.gif

and other stuff.

Its a GREAT pad, as long as you don't move it from location to location much.

Geez, these songs are tough! The 7-footers in ITG are like 9-footers on DDR.

But I like the challenge.

I just got the bundle today from amazon! I have not tried ITG yet, but you know I had to try out one of the pads. DUMB ME erm.gif

Right now I'm doing the right thing - I have both unbagged and draped over chairs. One of the pads has some pretty good wrinkles right by the left arrow - hope those fall out at least a little.

Keeping in mind I am a beginner - I used the pad with SN2, was using the Konami pad that came with the game.

Impressions:

Movement: Konami pad moves more - the whole pad. ITG/RO pad? doesn't move as much but it does "scrunch up" on me, especially the bottom left side (if you're standing on the pad).

Sensitivity: The Konami pad I have may be a bit of a dud, I don't know, but the back arrow is kinda tricky, I get alot of "boos" when I know I've stepped on it.

The ITG/RO pad? it IS as wacky as people on amazon reviewing it say. If you're standing dead in the center not moving a muscle, it will somehow still sense you're on a sensor and things start moving/scrolling really fast. Like to the point I was yelling STOP! and jumped off the pad.

As to actual play? This pad you can flatfoot, as least I could, but then again I'm on beginner level - the top's almost sticky? compared to the Konami and the sensors being so weird, well...I'll hit the same arrow 4 times and get perfect, boo, almost and amazing.

I've been wearing ballet slippers with the Konami pad - cannot do this with the ITG/RO pad - too sticky. So as much as I hated it, I didn't want to stop so I went barefoot. Positive to that? I think? I'm beginning to get the idea of the slide on the pad.

Just have to figure out what to do about the RO pad scrunching up. The wood/plastic mod is out of the question for me for a few reasons. I'll think up something ... if I can find an adhesive that'll work and not ruin anything, I do have some "gym floor" 12mm interlocking squares. I could put those together, then affix the pad to them maybe?
