I'd like to make a great DDR/ITG setup to really get a nice experience of it, so I've been thinking seriously lately about getting a computer solely for SM, and hooking up my Bluesharks to it. However, I'm not experienced in this sort of area at all, so I have some questions.
What hardware would a SM-dedicated computer require?
What version of SM would work best for this setup?
Most reliable PS2-USB converters?
I'd like to have it set up so that on turning the computer on, it boots straight to SM, without an interceding OS. I understand that Linux would work best for this, but how would I go about setting this up? What version of Linux would I need, and how do I make it load straight to a program?
How can I allow USB profiles to be used when sticks are plugged into the computer? (as in a ITG2 dedi)
Anything I may not have thought of. Any advice on this, or links to helpful articles would be enormously appreciated.

Not alot, I know people who use their old machines for dedicated SM. I've run it perfectly fine on a Pentium 3 with XP, 256 RAM, and no real graphics card. Of course if you can do better (which I'm sure you can) that's great. If you use a theme other than the default, that might also affect your hardware necessities, but not by much.

Not sure if I can help you there. If you want an easier to use Linux, go with Ubuntu, but I don't have a clue how to boot directly into the program (if its even possible)
