Hi. I tried modding different soft pads (specifically a Konami pad and RedOctane ITG pad) using a 36x33, 1/2 inch thick plywood board, because that's what the modding guide on this site says. I also use a clear plasticky bought at JoAnn Fabrics material to cover them. However, if I put either pad on the board, they both give me pad misses, whether I cover them or not. On the ITG soft pad, it's always the up arrow. On the Konami pad, it's always the down arrow. But when they aren't on the board, they respond fine. What am I doing wrong that's causing the pads to give random misses when I put them on the board? |

1) make sure you're not placing the plastic on too tight (make it tight enough so you can't pinch the plastic, and no more)
(be sure to tape the plastic, if you play anything above 7 or so, and it's stapled, it will become loose)
also, be sure to avoid shoes and bare feet
ALWAYS PLAY IN SOCKS
2) make sure the plastic isn't slippery or weak (it will become less slippery over time, and if you can stretch the plastic, it's too weak)
3) make sure all 4 sides of the pad are taped to the plywood (so it doesn't scrunch)
I had problems with the up arrow on my ITG softpads when i first modded them, but they went away after some time. After 11 months of pure torture, they're still in the same condition as when I opened the box. _________________
