|
|
I am planning on buying a new metal pad (as my old one broke a while ago). My old pad was a TX-1000 and it did last quite a while, but I want my new pad to last longer. I play roughly an hour a day during the summer. That being said, what does everyone recommend? |

DT do not exist yet, so depending on the feeling you want CF/BS
arcade experience is more BS while durability is more on CF side
though both are reported to be very sensitive (personnaly I will go on the BS side because you can order spare parts and so fix your pad in the future if something breaks... that is if I dont build mine before the end of the summer) _________________

I hear all this talk about Blueshark, and i ordered a Cobalt instead.
Problems with Cobalt Flux
-Non arcade experience (although i dunno about the arcade mod...)
-Last shipment (november-january) was CRAP! but they've hopefully fixed it
Problems with Blueshark
-Customer service is CRAP
-Many people order their bluesharks and SOMETHING is wrong
-MMB basically steals your money, if you have a problem good luck fixing it.
-Bar = CRAP (at least it has one.....)
IMO i'd go with a flux and get the arcade mod, you can almost order two fluxes + doubles bar + Arcade mod for ROUGHLY the same as a Blueshark (actually it's quite a bit more but i think you get my point..)
Fluxes are also supposedly easier to manage as although they weigh less they still don't really move.
My two cents.
Edit - god what happened to my spelling...fixed. |

it depends on which you want: arcade vs durability
ive played on a CF, and it is NOTHING like arcades, which really made me go
ive never even seen a BS in person, so i have no idea what those are like, but they use arcade sensors, so it *better* be arcade-like
...or, go the homebrew route, like me and tofu
and if you do choose that way, im usually on AIM, or PM me if you have questions (thats for anyone btw) _________________

Yeah, if you want an arcade experience, you pretty much have to chose between:
Blueshark which is ~$460 shipped
or
Homebrew which can be anywhere from ~$60 - $130.
I guess you can tell which one I think's better. _________________

yeah, homebuilt's are much better than CFs for sure!
i cant really say since i havnt used a BS, but then also think of it like this:
whenever a BS pad breaks, you may think..OH $%^&!, how do i fix it?
*goes to these forums and asks*
waits for an answer..
OR
whenever your homebuilt breaks, you built it, so you just look and see where the problem is.
done, fixed, ready to play more DDR _________________

As of Thursday, I'll be on AIM, MSNM, and YIM at reasonable hours almost every day again, so you can feel free to ask me crap too.
Also, $60-$130 isn't the full range of homebrews. Some of my designs could cost over $400 just to build. (specifically the DT510's) _________________

Since you have such a wide and convenient price range, you'll want to get a CF or a Blueshark. The Blueshark is the most arcade like, but MyMyBox (the company that makes them) has a bad reputation. Most Bluesharks turn out good, but sometimes you will get a bad one, and the bad ones are usually really really bad. Once, someone here got a blueshark and it was BENT. Yes, bent. The customer support people didn't believe him (I forget if it was a him or her) at first, so he had to send them a picture. But working ones work great, they don't lag and are very responsive (or so I've heard). As for the CF, it's good, but not the most arcadelike. If you get the arcade mod it helps a lot, but it's not exactly like the arcade. Despite this, it is the most durable pad you can get (there is a video out there somewhere of people driving SUV's over the same CF and then playing Holic on it, without any pad errors), and one of the longest lasting. As long as you keep it maintained (which isn't very hard), you can keep it working flawlessly for a very long time. I've heard stories of people who had their CF's working fine for over three years. A little while ago, they started randomly dishing out bad pads, but as of very recently this problem seems to have gone away.
Hope that helped. _________________

i have bad experience with mymybox blueshark metal pad. I thought that it was poorly made. However, I found out that it was due to the bad packaging and UPS poor handling ! MYMYBOX replaced my pad with new one.
Their new packaging box is very stong. A lot bigger than the first package that I received . Thier customer service is excellent! I talked to James at first, then I was taking to Kevin. I strongly recommend mymybox blueshark metal pad!
This the best metal pad on the market that you can find it.
If you are looking for the top of the line on ddr metal pad, you need to go with blueshark metal pad.
Cobalt flux can not be compared with blueshark metal pad. Blueshark metal pad is way better than CF.
I got one 2inch metal pad. I am going to buy a 3 inch blueshark metal pad with a handle bar. |

theres a guy who builds these pretty awesome DDR pads around here. i just used em today at a local anime convention, and they're pretty arcade-like(probably not quite as durable as the blueshark tho) and are even more durable than the CF. i think he sold the prototypes on here...his account name is technomancer. if you're gonna get a pad tho, GET HIS!! they're far superior to the CF. _________________

Just get a blueshark. You'll be pissed if you get anything else... unless you find a good homemade pad. _________________

I thought a lot about it and I decided to go with the CF. I think getting a quality pad off the get go is more important that arcade simulation. If this one does not satisfy me, then my next pad will be a BS. |

If you try both CF and BlueShark pads, you will choose a blueshark metal pad instead of CF.
The best metal pad in the market is 2inch blueshark metal pad.
You can visit myymbox office to test blueshark and CF pads before you buy one. For Qualitiy, I think Blueshrak metal pad is better than CF. I am waiting for their new nexen pad since it has a control box for ps2, PC, xbox, xbox 360, GameCube, and Wii.
a few of my friends who had CF upgrade it to blueshark metal pad.
GO with BS/ NOT CF.
