How Strong is PVC Piping?

Ive been searching and with naught as results.

How strong is a pvc pipe as a bar?

Im a pretty heavy guy, 195 pounds, and im wondering if i should invest in the cheaper and easier to use PVC as ooposed to the more standard metal.

Will a pvc pipe support me?(Assuming i assemble the bar to the maximum strangth levels)

PVC is strong enough, you have to get the thick stuff though. Also you should add reinforcement behind the pipe if you use PVC. Metal pipe is just as easy to work with and doesn't need reinforcing, but yeah it's more expensive.

the pvc i used for my bar was 1.25" diam. and 375 psi. it did wobble a little, but i added a couple legs out the back to fix that
