Show-off or showdown?

When you go into the arcade do you go in and say "I want to beat the person next to me (showdown)

or do you get up there, pick a hard song and hope everyone points at you like oh they are soo good!(show off)

or are you neither and you just want to improve your scores and just have fun? (whether you win or lose or wether ppl watch you or not)

me, I'm definatly a show off!!!! I love when ppl walk past the arcade and stop and watch me play...
I dont care if I never beat anyone in my life or if anyone is next to me or not -as long as someone looks at me and thinks good things hahaha. sure I've been owned and I have owned others but that doesnt matter to me at all...what about you guys????

and to the show down ppl.if you win but you get a lower score than usual, do you care that you didnt improve it or are you just glad that you one?..omg how did I spell "won" like that

If someone stops to watch me play I usually play a 9 or 10 footer to look spiffy as well as improve the score I already hsd on the song. I usually play better when I have a crowd for some reason.

I've been to different arcades where that kind of thing always happens. I personally don't see much of a reason except for bragging rights. But its cool.

i dont go for either one. im a pretty lazy player...i dont play to worry about PA's or AAA's or anything...when i get them, yay for me, but as long as im getting A's or higher, i dont really care! i just go to play and to interact with other ddr players. but of course when people stop to watch me play, it just makes it a little more fun

I'm a friendly showdown/show off player. If someone is around, and near my skill level, I like comparing myself to them, also when they pwn me in one area but I have there arse in another. When no one's around, I tend to show off if I see a potential crowd. You know, R3 and other show offy songs. (I tend to use hands a lot on .59...one day I decided to try it and it just became normal for me...I almost can't do it all on my feet anymore, lol). But yeah, I pretty much play both styles, and also enjoy improving my scores.

I defanitly end up showing off. XD I play the hardest songs I can on expert everytime someone's around. I really cant stand when people try to pull that "I've never played before in my life" crap though to try and own you. x_x;

I work on improving my scores, but generally play hard Oni courses (Roads/BRs) or 10 footers and Extra Stages, so I guess I show off also.

So basically you can say I improve my scores while showing off.

Depends on the situation. Showoff if I'm playing 1P, but showdown if it's 2P. I have faced off against one person my entire time playing, and after her acting like she was queen of the world, I chose Orion.78 AMeuro and put her in her place.

All depends if there's anyone there. If there's lots of people but no real ITG players, I'll go ahead and show off as much as possible, hoping to be one of kids that actually get a little bit of change to buy some more tokens to play.

If there are other players around my skill level, I'll try and kick their asses, as it helps me improve.

I can't use the grading system to show off anymore. If it isn't a AAA, then I'm disappointed and remind myself that in the greater scope of things I don't yet have a right to put others down. However I still have an ego, so I profess in impromptu and simply practice awkward pad-presence, such as being on the ground, while losing numerous possessions in the process. Amazing to those who don't play and amusing to those who do. In the end, everyone wins. . . err, except sex appeal.

I'm never showdown, I'd get pwned every time, especially when playing battle mode. As for scores, I hardly ever pay attention to that (I've never scored a AA at the arcade), unless I'm doing a favorite nontop/oni/marathon/survival course.

Almost always showing off, especially on double. If I know there's a crowd watching me, I'll purposely pick an easy song, and freestyle my butt off.

I usually just go to play. However if someone else is there and everyone thinks that they're good I'll definately challenge them. It's great having competition, and its even better when they leave right after you beat them. At the same time I do enjoy freestyle which does usually draw a crowd so I guess I'm both.
