I'm starting up stepmania again after a year or 2 of other stuff and I've run into a little snag. I have a EMS USB2, and a BNS Metal dance pad which works wonderfully. I start the game and have no problems.

When I get into some gameplay (usually a couple songs in) every so often my pad stops responding and while the keyboard works, the pad doesn't always work again.

Sometimes the pad comes back before the song is over, sometimes the pad doesn't and I have to alt-tab out or unplug the USB and plug it back in. Sometimes it seems the pad is giving incorrect information (such as if I was holding left, but I'm not hitting any buttons and no other button will work.) The worse is when even game controllers through windows seems bugged up and I have to pull the usb cord and put it back in.

Has anyone else had a problem with this or can think of a solution? I can't even get to Test input because the pad is wigging out so bad and when the pad works it's too late to try test input.

I've tried multiple USB ports and pulling it and plugging it in only works about the same amount of time each iteration, but each jack has about the same results.

Are there any drivers that you have to install? Sounds like the computer isn't detecting the pad properly, so maybe you should see if it's installed in the computer.

I installed the new drivers and they became slightly more stable but no where near enough for any DDR freak. You miss a note in about 20, which sounds ok, but it's never at the begining of the song.

I have used a second EMS USB2 (one I got about 6 monthes ago) and it works less. Every so often it just disappears from the joypad device list until I unplug and replug the controller in.

The only other USB device I have in is my wireless mouse that's not being used.

I think it has something to do with the power consumption on the pad, because it mostly happens on jumps or half time steps.
