Taking apart a CG/BNS/ebay metal pad and modding

So i couldn't figure out why my metal pad just went (some would say its because its crap) well i know that already. But i decided to take it apart to see what it looked like and i doubted it would work again... While i figured out my problem, i also got an idea of how to mod one of these pads... this mod is to make the arrows recessed into the pad a bit as to make it easer to feel the arrow, i am doing this by adding an 8th inc pice of wood to the wood already on the pad.

As this is a work in progress i will update as i go. Please feel free to express any ideas, concerns, or even just call me an idiot for not making my own pad all together.
