even used the innovative search function but I cannot find any info here on three pads I am looking at.

The first one is an Energy Series Super Deluxe Dance Pad:
http://cgi.ebay.com/1-Hard-Foam-DDR-Dance-Pad-for-PS2-Xbox-PC-Ignition_W0QQitemZ330086688756QQihZ014QQcategoryZ41017QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

the other is an XPG Tournament Elite pad:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=011&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=320082496785&rd=1&rd=1

the final one which is really affordable is an unnamed brand:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=011&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=320081698575&rd=1&rd=1

They are all foam pads. I was just wondering if ripoffs(like these) of RO Ignition Pads are of at least equal quality. I am really getting confused with all these foam pads and not knowing which have at least stood up to equal quality of RO. So if someone could answer my question I would really appreciate it.

Never heard of those first two: the first one is obviously a DDRGame softpad from pictures and such and I recommend steering clear for the most part. No-brand pads are all-poopy pads in my experience, but I'll let the experts in the forum speak.

Also, the subject line could go in the topic and you could just drop the pad names in the title or something a little more subject-appropriate. Otherwise, thanks for reading up, as it seems to be a rarity these days.

I had two DDRGAME pads, one continues to work great despite being beaten to crap by people in my school just starting to play DDR. The other magicly "died" and once in a great while it will start working for about 2 songs then go back into a coma.

I personally think it doesn't really matter, except when shipping the pad might get bent in a way that risks destroying the pad, but other than that the pads are all pretty much made the same way and hold the same hit-or-miss. This coming from somebody who has gone through at least 15 foam pads in a year and a half.

In my experience, this pad has been pretty good. It works whenever I need it to, and it's pretty sensitive. Just make sure you buy it from this guy, I bought a look-alike from someone else and got ripped off.

Try going to best buy, they have some cheap foam pads that probably won't mess up right away.

And the moral to this post is:

You shouldn't have to pay shipping on something you can get at a store.

ill tell you, i got an ebay pad once and it was farr better than anything i came out with at best buy. the only decent part about buying pads at best buy is that you can get 2 year warrentys on them, but all the pads ive gotten at best buy sucked. they all suffered from either serious lag, terribly squishy foam, and arrows that dont work. these include:

the react multiplatform
the redoctane ignition 3
some datel brand
mad catz pro

your best bet? get a BNS sparkle/fusion or go with the konami bundled pad you get with DDR games. ebay pads are very hit and miss; they work great sometimes, dont work at all the other times. the ebay pad i got i had a good 5 months on until it bit the dust, and i loved that pad(it had great foam, perfectly raised arrows, and a good material). The BNS DX sparkle/fusion pads are great tho, ive had mine for about 7 months and it works great.

i wouldnt suggest buying from cuircut city or best buy.
reason 1. You have to step directly in the center of the arrows to get the pad to respond. (this goes for pads from both stores. ive tried them all.)
and 2. the foam comes appart inside and you can feel gaps in between where the pieces connect.

i wouldnt reccomend there.

but as for ebay.
good luck. E1.gif

Don't buy pads on eBay. I'd reccomend a BNS DX Extreme pad for foam pads. My friend has one (I reccomended it to him and he got it) and he likes it very much. I've used it too, it's a very nice foampad.

Well, one advantage to ebay pads is that the seller actually responds most of the time. E15.gif

Which would be great if the pads worked.

At $70 each, I think I had a pretty good deal on my tx's.
If not for those, I wouldn't know how to build my own now.

However, you need to find that ones that ARE $70 each, or you'll probably get way less than you paid for.

I'll chime in on that first one you mentioned (Energy Deluxe from DDRGame).
I bought the pad through an Amazon reseller. Since he had a 15 day return policy, I wanted to really give it some heavy use.
Disclaimer: This is my first experience with a pad and DDR as a whole.
I really liked this pad a bunch for the first few days.
The controls mapped correctly in the two games I tried it with (ITG, SM) and didn't suffer from the typical "joystick axis problem".
After just 5 days of what I considered to be moderate use (1-5 footers novice) the left button started failing. Not connecting and ghost steps were the main problem. It was inconsistent, so I didn't ask for a return until day 7. Luckily, the guy took it back for a full refund (minus shipping).
Bottom line: Don't buy this pad for anything but mild and occasional use, and it should serve well for a few months.

I got the third one, and it lasted over 2 years. The last 4 months of its life gave me spammy goods and misses though.
