What are you putting in it? A PC with Stepmania?

Good luck, I'm looking forward to seeing how it turns out for you.

why don't you just spend the $1000 throughout the next year or 2 at the arcade and on other stuff? honestly, waste of time/money imo.

Is the cost cap for the cab itself, or does it include the PC and 2 ps2's?

You'll need:
-(2 or 3) 8'x4' 1/4" to 1/2" fir plywood boards
-6 to 12 selection buttons. (channelbeat has some nice ones for cheap)
-6-port surge protector
-Nails, screws, drills, etc.
-Speakers

Other stuff:
-lights
-acrylic sheets (1/8" plexi)
-marquee

You need to make a design first. xP

You'll also either need a huge monitor or you'll need to get a cable to hook your TV up to your PC. I've managed to find one online, but it was $50. I'd suggest you look at some local electronics stores, and if none of those have one, drive to the nearest Fry's Electronics.

But when you have your own arcade machine, you're not giving your money to anyone else. You also get other people's money to boot.

I think a more valid excuse for having your own SM machine is the fact that personal arcade cabinet with a PC inside translates to owning a boundless custom multicade. You just have to make sure to build it right, and you're the coolest person in town.

Have you seen the concept design for my SM machine? Pricey, even just to build, but the fact that I can sell it for an average employed middle-class adult's bi-annual paycheck any time I need some extra cash gives me a little more comfort in the idea of spending three to four thousand dollars on a new toy.
