Arcade DDR Extreme Error

Sup everyone, I usually do not post here but I really need your help as a community to solve this small problem for me. I went over to my local Extreme machine to find that the screen was flashing all of the colors of the rainbow lined up going across each on top of each other. It's that same screen you get when a local telivision station is currently unavailable. But it would *blink* these colors going from black to rainbow and then back again. I remember one of my friends asking the clerk "what's wrong with the machine" and apparently he/she did not know what was the problem. Now consiedering this is a DDR Community and considering that problems like these have come up before, I'm asking you to help me figure out what the problem is. I've considered that it was maybe a software problem, but there are not any memory card slots so how could anyone interfere with the data besides the maneger or who ever else can mess with it. Another thing, maybe someone spilled a drink on it and ran out afraid to get caught, I've heard of drink spelling messing up machines before but it had nevr happened to me. My last guess was that the machine was overly in use but I highly doubt that because I had seen worse pads before and the DDR Extreme Logo on top wasn't in too bad of condition. Well thanks for reading and I hope you guys can help me out with this. I don't think I could live without playing DDr in the arcades for more than a week lol.
