Alright, StepMania Online was working fine up until today which is when I downloaded some new packs off www.awzome.com/smo. I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but I thought I'd mention it anyway. I downloaded PPP, VGMP, and some other pack. (I don't think I need to be too specific about this, since I don't think these packs caused it - I can look up the other one if necessary.) I also downloaded Tsupdogamush (spelling?) off FFR, the PlagueMix 1 pack off Stepmania.com (I think this was the problem since it was .smzip and it didn't go onto StepMania CVS =\), and some songs off GrooveStats custom song list.
Anyway that is absolutely ALL that I did with StepMania today, and it was working fine last night.
It loads up find and everything, but when I try to make my own room or enter somebody elses room, StepMania just crashes and this error comes up. Something about .vdi, and when I click that .vdi file to the right this comes up. =\
If anyone knows what's wrong, PLEASE, PLEASE help as I want to play StepMania Online again. >.< |

From what I can tell, it looks like StepMania is missing something. Try re-installing StepMania.

Re-install StepMania? Wouldn't that cause me to lose my 2000+ songs? =\
I can load StepMania and everything, I just can't get into rooms because it keeps crashing then.  |

Re-install StepMania? Wouldn't that cause me to lose my 2000+ songs? =\

It's says when you re-install that it will not delete your songs or any other add-ons. If you're really afraid of losing them, just back them up in another folder.
I, too, have the same problem with 3.95, but I'm able to do absolutely nothing.

Re-installing is a good thing. I do it occasionally (ususally when I get random errors from installing new themes). You won't lose your songs. And the problem will most likely be gone.
This explains why I didn't see you online today.  |

It's says when you re-install that it will not delete your songs or any other add-ons. If you're really afraid of losing them, just back them up in another folder.

Re-installing does nothing to the already "made" songs, themes, sounds, etc. It's just after you start StepMania after the restart, you have to just configure everything again (Frame rate, video settings, etc.), i think.

No, just install it over the version you already have. It will delete the old version and immediately install the new one.

Alright, I did that and it said that I needed to "uninstall" the previous version to get it, so I did. But now I can't even get to the menu. =\ It crashes after it shows the SM logo and the press start thing. >.< |

...and did you do anything to fix it? o.O Even if they were unsuccessful, post them because I don't want to be doing the same thing you did and have it not work also. I'm just going to transfer my songs onto StepMania 3.9, and take off SMO and CVS from my PC and download it all over again. If it works, I'll just transfer over my songs and *hopefully* have a working SM. =\ |

Just take the last pack that you downloaded thats probably causing the crash.

I can't see how a simfile pack can crash your StepMania, was it a .smzip file that could have updated something else?
As for the StepMania crash, I have ussues using SM CVS anything other than : StepMania-CVS-20060627 perhaps when you re-installed you went to a newer version that is causing crashes. Find and load the same version you had, in fact I would copy out the CDTITLES COURSES CHARACHTERS BGVIDEOS SCREENSHOTS NOTESKINS THEMES ANNOUNCERS BGANIMATIONS and of course SONGS and then delete everything else and do a clean install of StepMania-CVS-20060627.

Again, you don't need to do that, just keep the version you have when you install the new one. It will uninstall the old version and install the new one without deleting any of that stuff.
