the stick would just be a bit of metal with bend in it when it goes into the guitar, u could always buy a real whammy bar for a real guitar and use that, its basically the same thing _________________

Yeah, but it might be difficult to attach it. _________________

Step 1: Buy a guitar hero + controller combo, or a used controller.
Step 2: unscrew the case, take out the electronics carefully.
Step 3: Put them into whatever custom case you make.
Congratulations, you 'built a guitar hero'. _________________

I'm sure if it was sold for profit, Konami would clamp down on it (I'm sure it's a matter of time before they clamp down on ITG).[/quote]

.......the whole purpose of this is to make my own guitar hero controller, not buy a guitar hero controller.
Play a 60$ guitar and play your own home made guitar is very different. That's why some people build their DDR homepad not buy a 300$~400$ pad _________________

Nobody 'makes' a decent quality DDR pad for less than $100 in both materials and time. Suck it up and buy a controller, they're top quality anyway.
A guitar Hero controller is more complicated internally than a DDR pad, and it'll never be as good as an official one.
Still, if you do go ahead and build one, post a walkthrough and some pics/gameplay videos. As far as I know, nobody's documented a homebuild GH controller before, and it'd help anyone else in your situation. _________________

Well, you'll need to. . .
1. Find out what all the buttons run to on a regular GH controller
2. Design an encasement
3. Build it (probably the easiest part).
I could do the first and second for you if I don't forget.
EDIT:
fixed. The commercial ones suck, and RO won't let anyone else build them or else lawsuit 'cause they're hypocrites. _________________

I think I know how to do the botton, picking, and wailing. But how about the stick? Dose anybody has any idea how to make the stick?
What I saw on the internet is use microswitch for the picking, and mercury switch for the wailing. |

Oh, I forgot to mention: the easiest way to find out what a GH controller's buttons runs to is to hook it up to your computer using a USB adaptor, open up (in your control panel) the game controllers part, and go to the calibration/details for the controller. Then, press the buttons individually to find out what each one is. The down button will be pressed down constantly, just so you know.
Do the same with a regular controller and match 'em up. =)
You can also try to just find out from someone, but I'm not sure many people would take the time to find out unless they really gave a damn. _________________

I did it on my PS2 controller and a guitar hero controller. here is the result
Green - L2
Red - L1
Yellow - R1
Blude - R2
Orange - X
Picking (in the main menu) -up and down
Enter(in the main menu) -X
Back (in the main meny) -Triangle
Stick -L3 move up and down
Wailing- Select
Start -Start
The difference from the controller is you can just press the botton without picking _________________
