So I have two RedOctane Ignition 2.0 Pads for PS2. They were both working fine, until one day I decided I wanted to play StepMania instead of DDR on PS2. I have a SmartJoy Plus PS2 to USB adapter, which has worked fine for me with previous pads before. But this is the first time I've tried it with the Ignition pad.
So, at first I thought it was acting okay. It's been awhile, so I don't remember the details. I would be testing the buttons in StepMania, and it would work okay until I hit too many buttons at once, and then the input would stop. I don't remember how I got it to happen, but after that I would go into Control Panel and look at the Gamepad info on it, and the program was showing that the input on the pad was going crazy, jumping all over the place.
So I came to the conclusion that the SmartJoy Plus adapter + Ignition pad weren't compatible. So I decided to just hook it up to my PS2 and play DDR the old way.
Well, I plugged it in and turned it on, and it was as if a button was being mashed down. Anytime a menu would pop up on DDR, it would select it immediately without me touching anything. Pressing buttons on the pad wouldn't make it stop either. So, I unplugged it from the PS2 and the problem stopped. Then I plugged it back in, and pressing the buttons doesn't do a thing. That is, the lights on the pad light up, but the game doesn't receive any input.
Did I fry my pad? Do you think a circuit board fried or did a connection get knocked loose? Can I repair it? Or is it something completely different?
Thanks in advance for help.. oh, by the way, the other pad that I didn't plug into my PC still works fine. |
