I'm taking a shot at building a RipTide style homepad, and I'm up to the point where I need to bend the sheet metal around the stationary panels.
I am using .22 ga WELDABLE STEEL sheet metal and I can NOT get it to bend cleanly.
My question is, does the fact that the sheet metal is labeled as "weldable" make it any harder to bend or less easy to use for this type of project? It does seem slightly more easy to scuff than other sheet metals, but that's the only difference I notice.
BTW, I also got this idea to make my pad lighting-capable (Patster's lighting mod), I'm gonna need to make more space so once I get everything bolted down, I'm gonna saw out the bottoms of the arrow wells and cover up the holes with spare 10 3/4'' squares of 3/4'' plywood. It'll add an extra 3/4'' to the well to make space for the light bulbs, and it will elevate my pad to almost the full 4 inches of the arcade pads. I will also put little 3/4'' squares in the corners of the pad so it doesn't wobble (of course), but I think it will turn out to look pretty sweet, eh?
Please reply if you've ever built a hard pad.
