Okay, so around here, there are a good 20 DDR/ITG players considered more serious (Note: Gross estimation going on) Myself being among them. "serious" around here being anything above 10-foot songs. It seems, sometimes that the more serious players dress a certain way or listen to certain music, you know?

Me-Currently, I am able to pass most 12's, can SDG all 9 footers and A emerald sword on stepmania. Currently, I am wearing a pair of black and green bondage pants that I bought from hot topic, a black button-down shirt over a spiderman t-shirt and a pair of shades on my forhead. Favorite music genre: Symphonic metal.

Pete-My rival... need I say more? Normally wears ridiculously baggy jeans, torn T-shirts and whatever raver junk he deems appropriate. Favorite genre of music:Techno-hardcore? Note: can't PA as well as I, but can still pass two or so songs I cant.

Nick-Our beginner. Recently passed his first 10 footer. Nick can AA UB3R R4V3 on stepmania. His most recent accomplishment: Max 300, I think.
Nick ALWAYS seems to wear rainbow or biker gloves, has long LONG blonde hair and is normally seen in baggy jeans with too many chains on his wallet. His mom calls him "goth" all the time. I dunno.

Chris-Currently the best player in our state, can pass all but vertex^2 and holds most of the ITG song records under the name Kari. Can * to *** up to 11 foot, something like that. Chris normally wears bondage pants, a gaming t-shirt (most notably, his "1337" shirt) and a handcuffed jacket on occasions like raves, he has long red hair with black highlights. Favorite band, last I heard: Avenged sevenfold.

There's more, but for the most part, our DDR players dress very "raver" "goth" whatever steryotype, scene or cliche you may wanna place on them. I was wondering how many other people noticed anything like this.

I don't know how you can play DDR/ITG in those bondage pants or baggy pants.

I don't really have a 'style'. I just wear stuff I like. For playing DDR/ITG I usually wear loose fitting basketball shorts or the like and a T-shirt. I don't wear my regular clothes, like jeans, to play DDR/ITG in because it is too hard for me.

Exactly what I do. And exactly how I feel.

Usually black pants and a t-shirt and very old shoes.

when practicing i wear heavier clothes, such as my thick jeans and winter sweatshirt. when actually playing for points, i wear my lighter jeans and tin sweatshirt.

yeah its basically the same thing but the heavy jeans are probably 2 pounds heavier than my light ones and the sweatshirts are by no comparison in the thickness of the fabric

Well, generally, we 'play' in t-shirts and jeans or shorts, though, this is normally what most of us tend to wear outside of DDR/ITG.

Hawaiian shirt+under shirt (experimenting with transfer sheets to create a show-offy DDR shirt E10.gif) and semi-baggy shorts. Occasionally I where 2 strings around my wrists for effect. The Hawaiian overshirt is for effect to, 'cause when I want to "show-off" on a harder song then my usual comfort zone, I fling it off, sometimes in mid song if I get a chance E10.gif. And that would be my clothing style. Playing wise I use a perfect attack style, although I'm attempting to learn basic freestyle to go from there E10.gif. Interesting what y'all play in. I find full pants get in my way. I have NO idea what I'm gonna do for winter :S.

wear a pair of athletic shorts and an undershirt under your clothes and take off the pants when you go to play DDR. thats what i've always done. it feels weird taking off your pants in public the first time, but after a while, i got used to it.

my actual clothing style? usually some semi-tight(but not emo-boy) ripped jeans along with a t-shirt of my choosing(usually a game-related shirt or a shirt from urban outfitters) and the occasional polo. i have medium-long blonde hair. i usually dont dress flashy for DDR(or much of anything, for that matter) unless i feel like being outrageous. All though i thoroughly enjoy playing with chains on my pants(idk why...it just entertains me!!), i rarely do it because it often distracts me.

playing DDR in my tidus costume was pretty cool tho....haha.

I like to play DDR in chained/strapped black pants that make an unbelievably annoying *crraangkcrrangkcrrangk* noise whenever I move. The pants weigh about 800 pounds so it's kind of hard to PA, which is the main reason I get B's on songs. The only songs I ever pick are A and Era and Abyss and .59 and anything else that has a symphnoic background to it. I usually wear shoes that are made of plastic and are about 3 feet thick. All black. Everything black. All from Hot Topic to...the store that no one else shops at because only me and my tortured artist friends shop there. I play guitar to...well actually the only thing I know is the D chord and Crazy Train but that's fine with me. Yeah I usually play DDR in groups of people from my band. Yeah I'm in a band. Well right now it's only me and my friend, and only one of us has a guitar but it's still fine. Our lyrics rule. We write about death and pain and war and how much Bush sucks. Totally original stuff like that. But when I go play DDR, it's usually me and one of my friends and then about twelve or thirteen girls who also are tortured artists and shop at hot topic. They play on light...such noobs. I like to show off in front of them by playing really hard songs like So Deep and Max 300. I can pass So Deep with a C but I can't pass Max 300. No one can. That song is impossible and no one in the world can do it.

Why does almost everyone need to wear shorts? I play just as well, if not better, in pants.

Serious question.

You know, that is one HELL of an idea. I'm gonna try it. Thanks a bunch biggrin.gif. Hope it'll work for me.

And to the guy asking about shorts, I have no idea, it just frees my movement more. I'm a bit flamboyant, but it helps my PA too. Pants, I could probably play it, but never at home.

I personally do not have a DDR style but i have noticed that girls who shop at hot topic and play ddr seem to pick every blasting anime/j_pop song on there but if i had to have a style it would be the shoes changing them chages my song selection depending on whether im playing ironfoot or light footed by wearing either adidas flat footed shoes or sneakers

my two cents

Haha! There is this one guy who's like "I''m goth, pain, death (lalalalala)" and he barely plays standard. God, what an annoying kid. I'm not here to endorse any high school steryotype, cliche, clique or otherwise group that people may place themselves in. I personally shop at hot topic for my own gratification. I think I look good if I do everything just right. (Just noting, in case someone seriously posts like the above person)

I actually did play in mine awhile back. Thy don't really hurt my PA much, if at all. I actually sport a fair AA on max 300. I'm not in a band, especially not one that goes off about death and destruction...

I think this cold use some explaining. This thread was intended for me to see if DDR/ITG touches certain "cultures" in children, or if DDR develops a sort of culture of it's own among players. I find myself hanging out wth more and more people who play rather than people who don't. Not out of discriminatin, but because of the amount of time I spend with these people, playing at our arcade.

I play in whatever I'd normally wear, which is generally cargo pants, a t-shirt, and sneakers (sometimes Timberland boots). I do most of my shopping at Old Navy. (Don't know what people have against Old Navy. I mean, it looks good and it's cheap. Win-win.) So yeah, I'd say I look pretty average, and stand out among the Hot Topickers that usually crowd the machine. (One time I showed up at the mall wearing my Timberlands and a blinding white hooded sweatshirt. I really stood out in the sea of depressing black clothes) I can beat all the nines, as well as the two easy tens. At home I can beat all but Paranoia Survivor Max Heavy/Oni. My personal favorite music: Billy Joel.

[quote="Dakota"]The truth about Hot Topic nerds [quote]

Ugh, I despise people like that. My school has alot of those people. They are all, "Im so emo/goth i go to hot topic and whore out on the black stuff yet im so preppy because im all happy and excited around people".

I almost turned into one of those fools, but now Im normal.
