say, me and my friend were talking today how cool it would be to have a dance game based off mainly river dancing. So, i came up with an idea of possibly making a SM pack for it. I don't know a whole lot about river dancing, but i would like it to be pretty accurate to the real deal and was wondering if there are any river dance enthusiests that know any cool river dancing songs. Or perhaps a song that has some river dancing elements with a mix of techno/electron(like Da Roots in ITG). I pretty much just need some music and possibly some other people who would be interested. _________________

You could ask the idiot in this video.
This is a cool idea, but I think it would be pretty hard to pull off. How would the game know the person was actually 'riverdancing' and not just pounding the arrows? However, I'd like to see what you can do with the idea. I'm sorry I can't help you much, I know very little about 'riverdancing'. I wish you luck with your plan though. _________________

well, i figured riverdancing would be good for a DDR-esque game since most of the movement is in the feet as apposed to arms.
i personally think i might be onto something with this....
o, and ive grown quite attached to riverdance music since ive done some video research....idk...theres something about it that has such an "epic" feel to it...
i also have quite a few plans. riverdancing is pretty much set up in 2 types(from what ive seen). 1 is more based on where all the music comes from the sound of your feet and on occasion a drum. Now, this would be totally awesome if i could make a game where i could make it so i have steps going on the screen and noise when you hit the panel, but unfortunately i would need to do programming for that(which i dont know how to do).
the second type is basically the music+a routine(sometimes with shoes that make noise) to go with it. Now, from the videos ive watched you notice you seem to tend to get a lotta people going on stage during these. Unfortunately i cant do that either, but i still could make something simular to this. Also, maybe metal pad users could use a riverdancing shoe on there pads for a very authentic riverdancing feel.
anyhow, for a cool riverdancing video see

and if anyone would like to contribute music/help on stepcharts, post here or PM me! _________________

i've thought about this a lil bit too...id be happy to help develop a pack w/ u for SM!
my thoughts have always been set it up in doubles format...of course to pull of the real riverdance effect, music would basically be a violin...percussion being ur feet...they would be tough songs...but def something worth bragging about on the pad... _________________

JUST BECAUSE PEOPLE SAY DDR LOOKS LIKE TAPDANCING DOESN'T MEAN IT'S A GOOD IDEA TO MAKE A GAME LIKE THAT. I WOULD SAY MICHAEL FLATLEY IS ROLLING OVER IN HIS GRAVE, BUT HE ISN'T DEAD, SO I'LL JUST SAY HE'S NOT DANCING AS WELL NOW THAT YOU MADE THIS THREAD.

LMAO! I think the riverdancing idea is a good idea, and should be made. Do you know any good riverdancing songs that'll make a hit with us users? _________________
