Your converter is crap. Try the Trio Linker Plus, I hear that's a good one.

DO NOT LISTEN TO THIS. Don't get another one just yet, yours might be fine.

I had the same problem with my converter. You have to change the mapping of the converter and set the directional arrows to ABXY.

I'm not exactly sure what drivers you're using, but the ones I'm using can be found here. http://www.redcl0ud.com/files/XBCDv106.exe

Install them and then open the XBCD folder. Choose "Setup Utility".

On the screen it opens up, right in the center, there is a picture of a D-pad. That is what you are currently using for your directional arrows.

Click on each direction and change them to ABXY. It shouldn't matter which ones you set to what, because it should automatically map.

Now everything should work fine. I hope I was of help.

What Xbox pad are you guys using? I have the RedOctane Ignition 3 Multi-platform pad and I can't get the USB adapter that came with it (and connects to the xbox control cord) to be recognized.
