Random movies in Stepmania

I have a big batch of movies i'd like to play in the background for stepmania, and they work fine...well, almost. The problem is that Stepmania (i have 3.9 i think) starts playing all the random movies from the beginning. So it plays background3.mpeg for the first 6 or 7 seconds, then goes on and plays background7.mpeg for the first 6 or 7 seconds and so on. The videos are all over a minute 1/2 long but stepmania has it so i can only see the beginning parts of those videos. I don't want to assign videos to all of the individual step files (since i have a lot). What i want it for Step mania to play random movies and Random Times in the movies. So instead of how it is now, it would play background3.mpeg from 0:58 to 1:07 (from the duration of time of the video) then switch to background7.mpeg and play that from 0:22 to 0:30, and so on.

Kind of hard to explain but i think you know what i mean. Anyway i can rig up Stepmania (or maybe DWI if SM can't do it) to play random movies like that? Thanks.

Maybe you could just trim the videos to 6-7 seconds and use that? Like the 30 second long "background.mpeg" could become 5 separate 6-second videos.

Yea im sure thats possible Windows Movie Maker trims videos into clips at a lengh you select, so if there is a way to just save all the clips seperate it would work in my opinion O.o

I wish the movies were like that already, then it would be much easier. It would take a real long time to clip up all the videos, but i understand that may be the only option if i want to do what i want. I think I'll try and get through to the developers of Stepmania and see if they can program it to play random movies at different time periods for the next version of step mania. Hopefully they wouldn't completely ignore me
