Whats the difference between v3.9 and version 4.0CVS?

Whats the difference between the regular 3.9 version of step mania and then 4.0 CVS version?

4.0 supports online play (though so does 3.95 CVS), and has different formatting for themes and noteskins. that's all i know of, other than the different default theme.

3.95 CVS is not an official Stepmania release. 4.0 is meant to have all the same cool perks, like online play and rolls, in an official release.

The new theme looks stupid, imo, but I guess I'll have to get used to that.

I like it better just because it has the information telling you number of steps, etc. and supports rolls.

it supports rolls? question. do you have to get new charts, or did the previous versions just convert them to freezes?

3.95 CVS supported rolls. anything older would turn them into a jump at the end of the roll that you couldn't hit but didn't affect your score. and they would sometimes crash stepmania.
btw, to put them into a simfile, hold shift to lay a mine and drag it and it will turn into a roll.
