3.95 CVS lags for me

For some reason, when I install 3.95CVS, the arrows jump multiple times during a game and messes me up. However, 4.0 has no lag at all. I only want to use 3.95CVS for the itg2 theme but I can't play without it being smooth. It lags even right after I install it, without the itg2 theme.

I have a AMD athlon(tm) XP 2500+ (1.8ghz)
512 DDR ram
geforce fx5200 video card

judging by your system specs, SM should be able to work nicely
